Obama pushes military frustration to highest level in decades
« on: November 06, 2015, 03:46:15 AM »
Key lawmakers from both parties say frustration with the White House among the top military officers is at its highest level in decades, the product of President Obama’s cautious approach to the wars in Syria and Iraq and an indecisive inner circle of White House advisers who, critics say, have iced the Pentagon out of the policymaking process.

“There’s a level of dissatisfaction among the uniformed military that I’ve never seen in my time here,” said Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman John McCain in an interview. “For some of us who are a little older, let’s go back and read the Pentagon Papers — what the administration is doing is the kind of incrementalism that defined much of the Vietnam conflict.”

The Arizona Republican is known as a fierce critic of President Obama’s foreign policy, but his complaints were echoed by an unlikely source: Rep. Adam Smith, the ranking Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee.

“Frustration among the uniformed service is real,” the Washington Democrat said, adding that the administration “does keep things in the White House and has not been more inclusive in the decision-making process.”

But Mr. Smith also defended the administration’s overall approach to the troubled Middle East, arguing that the “sheer complexity of the situation” following the Arab Spring and the rise of the Islamic State — also known as ISIS — have defied a simple U.S. solution. “I don’t think dropping 50,000 U.S. troops down is going to fix the situation,” he said.

Both lawmakers made their comments in interviews with The Washington Times this week ahead of Saturday’s third annual Reagan National Defense Forum, a summit expected to feature much soul-searching about America’s current role in the Middle East and beyond among officials and analysts from both inside and outside the administration.

The libs/dems of today are the Quislings of former years. The cowards who would vote a fraud into office in exchange for handouts from the devil.

BHO seems to be a bizarre and dangerous combination of control-freak-itis and indecisiveness. With narcissism and excessive self-confidence thrown in for seasoning.
If The Vaccine is deadly as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, millions now living would have died.

I may be wrong, but I look @ this more simplistically.
O simply hates the military.
He has fired top brass, thrown around alot of pink slips, lowered standards, & the icing on the cake was trading a deserter for terrorists.

Wait a second, oh forked-tongue McCain.  You & O are neocon war hawk partners in greed & power.  Both of you & your kind supported the Arab Spring muslim brotherhood against the will of the Egyptian people.  How many military lives were lost because of forcing our heroes to play by the PC handbook?  How crazy was it (& I'm no strategist) to have them walk down roads ridden with bombs?  & if they did try to defend themselves, well, welcome back to a court martial & prison time.  You neocons, starting with Bush, trashed the leaders in Iraq & Libya, & how did that work out?  Doing the same in Syria, but this time Russia's involved.  Haven't ya'll played enough & made enough money with your war games?  All of this is good for you & the industrial military complex, bad for everyone else, including our debt.

I read it differently. I see Barry as being essentially indecisive and lazy. He prefers to let Valerie Jarrett run the show. As the rest of the sycophants are terrified of VJ, it's not likely she delegates much of anything.

Barry is content to let VJ run the show while he dreams about golf.

...neocon war hawk... greed & power...  neocons... Bush... money... war games...  industrial military complex...

I don't pretend to speak for anyone else, but as far as I'm concerned, you can carry that bullshit through the door on your way out.
"We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and then bid the geldings to be fruitful."

C.S. Lewis

A community may possess all the necessary moral qualifications, in so high a degree, as to be capable of self-government under the most adverse circumstances; while, on the other hand, another may be so sunk in ignorance and vice, as to be incapable of forming a conception of liberty, or of living, even when most favored by circumstances, under any other than an absolute and despotic government.

John C Calhoun, "Disquisition on Government", 1840

Hey, wasp69, I apologize if I have offended you.  I do have pent up frustration by both D's & R's & the mistreatment of the military, with special mention to our vets.  I'll make a concerted effort to tune it down.

Lot of truth in that.

I am a right winger who believed in the Iraq war. Not anymore. We have lost thousands of brave soldiers for what. We do not fight to win. Obama wants to use our military as pawns. I hope we get out of those shit hole countries and let the Russian and the rag heads fight it out among themselves. We do not need their oil anymore. We just need a President that will promote drilling and the K.S. Pipeline.
