Several Republican Senators outed as members of the KKK by Anonymous

127. Is this good enough for you?

https://www.facebook.com/MayorRogero

I’m not even sure this is worth responding to, but for the record: There is a list circulating online purporting to “out” elected officials as members of the KKK. For reasons unfathomable to me or anyone who knows me, my name is on the list. Given my background, my interracial family, my public record and my personal beliefs, this would be hilarious except that it is probably being seen by a lot of people who have no idea who I am.
So, just to be clear, for anyone who doesn’t know me: Don’t be ridiculous. I began my political career working for the rights of farm workers with Cesar Chavez. I have spent decades working for causes of social justice and equality. As Mayor, I have pushed for diversity in our workforce and outreach to and inclusion of people of all backgrounds in our community. In concert with President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper program, I began the Save Our Sons initiative to increase opportunities and reduce violence-related deaths among boys and young men of color. I have advocated publicly for LGBT civil rights, and I was the only mayor in Tennessee to sign onto the mayors’ amicus brief for the plaintiffs in the Supreme Court’s marriage equality case. In short, I don’t think the KKK would want anything to do with me.
I strongly request that anyone associated with the creation and dissemination of this false and defamatory accusation retract it immediately. It is irresponsible and slanderous. (Although, on a positive note, I do appreciate that they are using a picture of me from 12 years ago. Very flattering!)

So now people are in the Klan until they prove to you that they are not? You should be ashamed of yourself.

124. This is wrong on so many levels!

I'm extremely uncomfortable with releasing the addresses and phone numbers of people who haven't had the benefit of confronting their accusers. The same has been done to abortion providers. And some of those people have ended up dead.

Are we suddenly approving of such tactics? Because these are fascist, right-wing methods I want nothing to do with.

They believe their position to morally justified on the principle they are "saving babies' lives". Please tell me we are not guilty of the same machiavellian ethics.

While not impossible, it seems unlikely he is a member.

113. I was just being logical. I don't know either way. If you know he's openly gay, then I agree he's probably not KKK and the inclusion of his name was made to discredit all the other names. Who knows? It's not like Cornyn, for example, needs to be KKK for everyone with half a brain to hate him. He's a ****in' asshole!

12. Breaking News: An annonymous person has posted a list of people they claim are members of the KKK without providing any evidence at all. The media is pretty terrible, but they are not dumb enough to report on this.

67. Evidence is optional only for chumps who wish to believe anything they want to believe.

Faith based journalism is called gossip. Making accusations without evidence can be criminal, believing accusations without evidence is simply gullible. Lots of chumps on DU, that's the fact Jack. Gullibility central around here. 'I was on the internet and a Nigerian Prince supporting Bernie told me the world is flat! I am amazed that Bernie supporters all think the world is flat!!!' Chumps are chumps. They are marks, they are patsies and many of them are those things willingly.

I guess I'm so fed up with the GOP's draconian efforts to limit voting rights for minorities that this seems believable.

Not that I would find it surprising, but such extraordinary accusations need a hell of a lot more than anonymous allegations.

51. It is very unlikely Anonymous released these names. The Anonymous twitter account did not link to this list. It linked to 4 lists that had 57 phone numbers and 24 emails. It had no names. Anyone can post on pastebin and the list of politicians is probably just someone messing with people.

One wonders if it came from a secret Hillary e-mail...

120. Anon only released the names of four Senators, it appears, and the others are bogus, including

all the mayors?
And it was not just KKK members that are to be revealed, they mentioned Ghoul Squad and associates and relationships with these groups.
"We took this grudge between us rather seriously. You continue to threaten anons and others. We never said we would only strike once... The aim of this operation is digital. Another cyber war trist, nothing more. We are not violent. We will release, to the global public, the identities of up to 1000 klan members, Ghoul Squad affiliates and other close associates of various factions of the Ku Klux Klan across the Unites States."

110. I don't know the others, but I am acquainted with John Cornyn, and I seriously doubt he's a Klansman

I disagree with 95% of Cornyn's views (a few years ago I would have said "I disagree with 100% of Cornyn's views" but then the numbskulls in my state elected Tex Cruz who makes Cornyn seem almost rational by comparison).

Notwithstanding this disagreement on almost every significant political issue, I do not believe for even one second that Cornyn is a member of the KKK.

Before you embrace this story, go see the movie Truth, which reminds us that GW Bush drew attention away from his very real desertion by disproving the authenticity of one piece of evidence within the mountain of proof confirming Bush's AWOL status. This KKK story smells like a similar setup -- there may be a real story here but perhaps there is a game afoot to discredit that real story by implanting a false clue which will later be exposed as inaccurate in an effort to discredit the whole story.

Without any proof of credibility? How about reliability of sources? What stops you from being identified as a pedophile tomorrow when you are so willing to accept character assassination w/o any evidence whatsoever?

This is why courts exclude hearsay. This is how human beings ended up being burned as witches.

I think this is appalling

The DUmps got a couple of these up at the moment and are all giddy about it. But they are likely to find out that they end up on the wrong end of a lawsuit if they are relying on anonymous sources.  I can hear the judge now on testimony given from an anonymous masked figure on the internet.  Yeah, right.

Notice their outrage du jour in condemning this "outing", is because a DEMOCRAT was falsely accused. Had no dem been falsely accused, they'd believe the outing of Republicans.

Their faux outrage is noted.
Liberals disgust me. (Now I don't have to remember to put it on each post).

Because only the left goes searching for that which is not there in a desperate attempt to be offended about something.

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

One thread is outrage a DEM is called a KKK member. The other is joy that a REP is called one. I dare you to pick out which reply goes to which thread.

By the time the leftists get done revising history the KKK will be republican and Lincoln will be a democrat.

Another trait of high IQ people is not believing real history but the revised history of The Party.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
