Fred Thompson, a former U.S. senator for Tennessee, GOP presidential candidate, Watergate attorney and longtime "Law and Order" star, died on Sunday. He was 73.

Mr. Thompson died after a recurrence of lymphoma, according to a statement issued by the Thompson family.

RIP Fred you always seemed like a great guy.

Didn't even watch the news or log on the net yesterday at all so this news comes as a complete shock to me.  It saddens me, heck, just a few days ago I saw him in one of those reverse mortgage commercials.  Loved him in The Hunt for Red October.  Prayers for his family and friends, RIP, Senator Thompson.
