Back and enjoying the read
« on: October 30, 2015, 09:15:02 PM »
Although I've never been a prolific poster here, I've always enjoyed the read, and always enjoyed reading the CC take on the DUmmies.  I would come in, read, leave, post every now and then, etc.

19 weeks ago today, I walked in the door after work and found my 19 year old son dead on the floor from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  I've kind of withdrawn from the on-line world as my family tries to put the pieces of our lives back together again.  But I popped in here yesterday, read a few posts, and a smile creeped onto my face.

It's not the first smile, but it did feel good to be back among "friends".

Sorry for your great loss. I can't imagine what you are going through. Mine and my family's thoughts are with you.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

How sad.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

Best of luck with your tribulation.  I wouldn't even pretend to understand what that is like.  Wishing you strength and understanding, going forward.

Liberal thinking is a two-legged stool and magical thinking is one of the legs, the other is a combination of self-loating and misanthropy.  To understand it, you would have to be able to sit on that stool while juggling two elephants, an anvil and a fragmentation grenade, sans pin.

So sorry for your loss.  I, like others have no idea what you must be going through.

But glad to found some humor here. I also read a lot and don't post much.

Reading what goes on at the DUmp it sad and halarious, and sometimes unbelievable all at the same time.

We have been hit hard in the past 2 weeks with deaths in our family.  None were by suicide, but the angel of death does not discriminate.  Prayers to you and your family for God to bless you with peace and strength.

My condolences and prayers as well. There have been times I've been very afraid I might walk in on the same such scene with my 19 year old. I'm still worried. I'm so sorry for your loss
