I'm pretty new here, so my opinion matters little to many... but here's my thoughts.
For the tl;dr crowd... As the title suggests, I'm now 100% behind Cruz as my guy.
First.. Santorum, Jindal, Pataki and Graham.. Just need to give it up. They are little more than an afterthought in these discussions. Bow out gracefully before you get destroyed in Iowa, and give a candidate that has a chance your endorsement.
Next.. I think Jeb nailed his coffin shut... Thank Goodness. Fiorina, Huck (I like him as well), Kasich all generally seem like they peaked not long ago, but have plummeted at this point. Paul being the exception, as he has not been able to get traction at all. I've never liked Krispy Kreme... but he had one of the better moments in the debate when he was wondering why the hell the government is worried about Fantasy Football, w/ all the problems we have (full disclosure.. I enjoy Fantasy Football, but only play the free leagues on Yahoo). Time for these folks to hit the road.
To me.. the below are clearly the "Final Four"...
Carson.. Seems like a nice enough guy, I'm just not sure he has the experience to really get it done like this next pres is probably gonna have to do. I love his flat tax idea, but he seems to move around on the numbers constantly.. It's somewhere closer to 15%, then it's 11.5%, but he uses 10% to make the math easy (which I fully understand)
Rubio... Certainly quick on his feet, and his smackdown of Jeb was a thing of beauty. For me... Immigration is his weak spot. Sometimes it almost sounds like he's supporting amnesty to me, but he's trying to fool us by not just coming out and saying it.
Trump... I love his tenacity and he's my #2 at this point... but as has been pointed out, he does have a history pushing the liberal agenda.. even though I do believe he is on "our side" on some of the more important issues (immigration, job growth)... I always worry about "elites" flipping on us when it comes to gun control (which he also has a history on).
Cruz.. has a 100% conservative track record. Absolutely destroyed the moderators tonight (which needed to be done, even if it took away a chance to provide a answer on an issue.. and I think the crowd's response showed that). This guy has been as strict a Constitutionalist in the Senate, as Scalia has on SCOTUS. He has a proven pro gun and pro life track record. He's also been very clear on the immigration crisis.
Go, Cruz Go!
