Last night was a testament to the Black Lives Matter movement
For all the hand wringing about them alienating allies etc., their methods to wake us up to a crisis in the black community and in America worked.
The presidential candidates had to answer a question about whether black lives matter or all lives matter and they all (with i think the exception of Webb), did a pretty good job
And a year ago, they would all have failed this question.
As a true ally to this movement, I was so grateful to them for blocking intersections, interrupting speeches, and doing what they had to do to raise our collective consciousness. I applaud them for this work.
But will the results be any different? No.
All the #blm movement has done is inform the Dem candidates how they need to frame what they say. It won't change what they do.
The Dem party has to keep blacks poor, uneducated, unemployed, around violence, and living in ghettos so they can tell them it's those evil Republicans keeping them there, and that if they vote for Dems they'll help them no longer be poor, uneducated, unemployed, around violence, and living in ghettos.
And as long as blacks keep falling for it, the Dems have no reason to change what they say verses what they do.
So while you say they "raised our collective consciousness," the results will be the same. Blacks gained nothing. But I'm convinced they like it that way, so let them be used.
