My brother's Teamster's Union pension was just cut....

Cut from $2700 to $1300. This is so awful....his wife is recovering (we hope) from lung cancer, and he has to spend all his time caring for her. He worked for 30 years and this was supposed to be there to take care of them. I'm heartsick. I come from a family of Teamster's Union workers, dad, brothers, brothers-in-law...I can't seem to take this in. How the world has changed...I knew that, but this kind of thing just brings it home in a big way.

The big guy better get on this ASAP.

The company I work for pays into my union's pension a negotiated amount. However, for several contract cycles the company has been wanting to move new hires to a modified 401k where the company would maintain their current input amount and then match employee contributions up to a certain amount each year.

That would be better and more secure for the new employees, but damaging to the unions current pyramid retirement scheme.

I've been watching that thread.  That one is a hoot!  It's fun watching them trying to figure out what happened and explain WHY SS is not the same thing!  LOL

They bitch and gripe about everyone having 'control', but none of them want to take personal responsibility.

From the thread (which is hilarious, because **** you, DUmmies), several people point to the Teamsters voting for Republicans as causal inference for the pension shortfall. I see no explanation, just babble.

This is odd. Whenever a private company has to lay people off, or whenever a company increases prices, the first thing the DUmmies do is assial the CEO and his/her compensation. With the Teamsters, however, that overhead has been completely ignored, despite the fact that it directly contributes to the pension shortfall.

The Teamsters have their own country club, complete with a golf course. Lurking DUmmies: where are your balls? Why can't you mention that?

The other subtext in that thread is that the pension fund is suffering because there aren't enough new Teamsters to keep the old ones in Budweiser and crack cocaine. Gee, DUmmies, welcome to the future, when there won't be enough people earning money to support Social Security. Myself, I find this funny, and I hope it means you union thugs have to carpool on your next trip to eat Hillary's table scraps.

That's assuming Hitlary has enough compassion for the proles to leave table scraps.
Liberals disgust me. (Now I don't have to remember to put it on each post).

Because only the left goes searching for that which is not there in a desperate attempt to be offended about something.

Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

I remember the Teamsters endorsing Reagan over Carter, but did they go much farther than that? Of course, that endorsement was unforgiveable, but it was 35 years ago.

I still can't understand why they hold SS in such high regard. I would bail and leave everything I have in it there, if they would just let me out. Give me the 30% my wife and I pay each year and watch what I retire on!

101. The Teamster pension plan is run by the Teamster Union.

If anyone gambled with it, it was the union.

58. Oh but it would. Redeeming pensions would be a specific 'project' the government would

print money for. Every one of those Teamster pensions could be made whole. Seriously - there's a book you should read called 'Web of Debt' that shows how this was actually done at times in the history of this country. The argument against the government printing its own money is that there will be too much inflation. This isn't true because a) as the money supply is expanded, demand for goods and services also expands, and b) if the government 'borrowed' this money that these pensioners need from the bankers instead of printing it, the money supply would still come out of 'thin air,' and the interest we paid on it would itself cause scarcity and inflation.

The government, if it nationalized the central bank and printed the money necessary for each thing it wanted to do, could create thousands of jobs on infrastructure projects, make troubled pensions whole, fund single payer healthcare and ensure free tuition at all colleges and universities. How do you think the Land Grant colleges worked?

Isn't that a hell of a lot better for the people than 40 years of union busting? It's a different way of thinking, because such a policy would bring about abundance instead of scarcity.

This sad tale is in direct contradiction to all of the other stories about the lagress of other DU'ers union pensions.  This begs the question, why should an iron worker be getting a huge pension while a teamster gets stiffed?  Doesn't the teamster haul the iron the iron worker uses?  Unions need to lead by example and redistribute their excessive wealth among their more needy brothers; all animals are equal!! :fuelfire:

Wow, guess the dummie's brother should have been out there on the picket lines protesting for a union, a la Trump Towers in Vegas with Hilarity as the slurpee beast oozing on in there for the stray crumb of good will some of these union members wannabes care to dribble on her.  Oh, nevermind... :panic:

Does the DUmmie not realize this country already runs on printed money that is not secured by actual tangible assets, gold and silver for example?  We're already treading water and going down for the third time, fiscally speaking, and this  :mental: wants to deliver the final blow to the head that will put us out of our misery.  And then yeah, Weimar Germany and Zimbabwe will become our new role models. :banghead:
