This is one of those things, that if George Bush weren't president, the primitives wouldn't care about.
That's all it is, nothing more.

All Credit Card Transactions To Be Reported to IRS
"This got snuck in to the fannie/freddie bill that was passed today in congress.
It will require credit card companies to report all "merchant" transactions to the IRS to help audit businesses.
Last I checked, those credit card transactions involve the customer, too.
Now the government will know everything you buy and almost everything you do and where you go."
Well, they did it. I shudder to think else has been passed or is in signing statements.
Then there is the congressional aide who rewrote part of a bill after it passed both houses.
We may have monarchy in place soon or The Halliburton Confederacy.
The wheel of Fortuna is turning wildly now.

1. Unbelievable
We no longer have any privacy.
But it'd be okay if Alphonse Capote Gore or the Bostonian Billionaire was in the White House, one reasonably supposes.

5. They couldn't find 18 Arabs acting suspiciously in less than 10 flight schools
So how are they going to process info contained many billion credit card transactions?
So their computers know what brand of toothpaste I use. They'd have to employ every man, woman and child in Asia to process all the information they'll end up collecting.
And the terrrrrists will still get through, because the Bushies are only interested in how fancy their band-aid is, not in healing the cause of the hurt underneath.

8. what about debit cards, or debit cards backed by credit card co?
thinking of that topic last wk with people wondering why anyone would NOT use a debit card.
Well, one reason primitives would NOT use a debit (or credit) card is because marijuana profiteers take only cash, no checks or plastic.

13. One of my sisters was beyond angry on Monday when she realized that her bank blocked her debit card transactions. She lives in Atlanta but was with us in Florida. Apparently because she was shopping and spent more than usual (out of state) Atlanta blocked access to her account. She let them have it.

That isn't my bank anymore.

22. You reach a certain amount and ATMs won't give you any more money...regardless of what's in the account. The front desk staff at the hotel I was staying at had seen this often enough that they had a system to deal with it. They'd give me cash and put it on my bill. My final bill transaction went through the credit card reader system, not an ATM. So not affected by my bank's assholery.
The primitive's bank's rectal aperturality is meant to protect the primitive, but the primitives, with lesser developed brains than decent and civilized people, can't see this.

10. California already "knows".. That's how they hound people who order cigarettes Updated at 4:56 AM
from out of state.. The state board of equalization (nice euphemistic name, eh?..) sends out bills to make you cough up TAX money that was OWED to CA, even IF you paid tax in a state where you ordered them...
If you use plastic, your purchases are under scrutiny.

31. and if you go to any online native america smoke seller you will notice...that they no longer accept credit cards.
the "state boards of equalization" can try to screw with us, but we adapt. we overcome. we improvise.
heh. we pay and they accept in forms they can't track.
fu, big brother...

11. Here, I got an idea....
Just cut to the chase.
Assign a government official to each and every person.
That official will live with us, watch us eat, sleep, make love, work, watch TV, play on our computer, and report back to the powers that be.
When we cross a line that's not defined (like posting on DU) they can spirit us away to some undisclosed location and "re-educate" us.
I'm sure this is just what they have in mind.
I wish "they" would put their mind into action, so as to give the primitives something legitimate--for the first time in history--to gripe about.

12. Probably meant to bust at home businesses.
Ebayers, Amazoners and other people who's "side" income is that online storefront. All this is going to do is change human behavior away from CC transactions and toward some other form of payment.

16. They want to phase cash out completely, so they can always know what ANYONE spends on ANYTHING, ANYTIME. It's a form of illegal search and seizure and denial of due process, IMHO. But they will use it against us all.
But if George Bush weren't president, it'd be
kosher, right?
And below, a nice entertaining little brief stretchy:

30. Now the government will know everything you buy..." no they won't...
from a cc transaction they would know you "spent $100 at whole foods", but not everything you bought. the cc transaction is the place of purchase and the total amount only.
"...and almost everything you do..."
well, they would know you "shopped at whole foods." that's not really everything you did, is it?
"...and where you go."
that part is true as far as your credit card purchases. but if they wanted to know where you go, and "everywhere you go" they could just track that nifty little gps in your cellphone. or the "onstar" in your car.
this is not good, but it's very incomplete data and not the end of the world. you can beat it completely by just paying for purchases in cash.
i feel more outrage about them cellphones...
But the primitives can't live without their plastic; the primitives are known for spending more each month on credit card fees, credit card interest, credit card penalties, than they are for spending on groceries.
