Is it to much to ask Democratic Underground to chill out with the racist crap?
As a black reader to the site I see it every time there's an incident involving black people. The usual suspects come out and do their hardest to paint black people as the racist. I been closely monitoring all the crap involving Vester Lee Flanagan. I knew from the moment I found out he was black that the racist would come out to play.
On Reverend Sharpton's facebook page, they been flooding him with the most vile and crazy messages I have ever seen in my life. On pages where the celebrity is black, the racist are posting their crap about what about this shooting or what about that shooting. You are so damn quick to paint all us black people as evil. This brother snapped. I know the killings in Charleston was what pushed him over the edge, but dang it stop painting all of us black people as hating white people.
I'll tell you what I hate. I hate coming on here every day and seeing black people silenced for speaking their mind.
I hate seeing our white allies silence for standing up for us.
I hate seeing new users come on here just looking to stir up racial crap.
I hate always being called an angry black man for no reason.
I hate how conservatives look at me and see someone who is evil and not clean.
I hate that in 2015, we all can't love each other without noticing how different our lives are.
That's what I hate.
If you want to call me a gay angry mixed race man tired of this stuff, so be it. But chill the hell out with the racist stuff. PLEASE.
Your side has pushed for a racially divided country since Barry was voted in. Why bitch about it now? Oh... that's right... a black gay man just executed two people on live TV stating he did it to start a race war. We must now not talk about race.

The Shooter/Murderer seemed to be much more bullied and 'persecuted' (in his own mind anyway) who probably felt like he had no recourse other than to admire past shooters and held them up to be heroes.
I don't think a racist would hold up an Asian and two white teens as examples of people he admires.

there is no defense for what this jerk did.
What he did has nothing to do with you, or any other black American. He appears to be a disgruntled ex employee, an angry loner with a Louisville Slugger sized chip on his shoulder, who happens to be black. There are a lot of Flanagan's around and they come in all colors, all ethnicities.

56. There was one post that really bothered me in the thread about the shootings
about how the person was angry/disappointing that he died so he didn't have to face punishment, and called him a coward. People who commit suicide are not cowards. They are lost and in a lot of pain.
I think it's pretty obvious this was a seriously sick man, and this may have had as much to do with his being targeted as gay as it did for being black. It wasn't racism on his part. It was mental illness, and if anything, a response to racism and bigotry from white straight people. Even if part of it was his paranoia...but we didn't live in his skin, so we don't know, do we?
Oh how easy it is to try to turn the anger around and blame everything on a minority

a gay black person (like myself) has every right in this country to be ANGRY because of institutionalized racism and homophobia, never mind what goes on in day-to-day life...and some people handle the racist and homophobic bullshit better than others.
and we cannot even get into the possible mental state of anyone that goes through racist and homophobic bullshit on a regular basis only for the society at large to think that we are supposed to be on our best behavior at all times as if harm isn't being done by the society at large.
Frankly, the Virginia murderer could be me.

75. You know, I have to say that I was actually shocked that the shooter was a black man. This kind of crime seems more common with middle class white men.
I also hate that in "2015, we all can't love each other without noticing how different our lives are". One would hope that in 2015, we should judge people, regardless of race, gender, religion, or sexual orientation, by the same standards. There are days when it feels like we are backsliding big time.
Have you seen how many black people are killed each year? BY OTHER BLACK PEOPLE?
