My car insurance costs $11,000 a year!

Unfortunately, my youngest kid (26) took out his pain at his father's death by collecting a batch of speeding tickets. Poor baby.

Short of kicking this underemployed service worker out of the house, does anyone have any idea how to lower this bill? Really need an answer to that?

(I have one nice car and one beater) The beater is probably his, since you know he's going to have accidents. What a sorry piece of shit you are.

They scoff at "family values" Republicans, in part because empirically, they scoff at family values themselves. How else can you explain a DUmmy who cares so little about her son and people unlucky enough to be driving on the same roads? What a piece of shit.

He has pretty much squat left over.

Yet you condone this piece of shit driving on public roads.

And...if all that wasn't enough...

So just **** everyone out on the roads with your little psycho, huh?

Not ONE DUmmy dares ask her if, gee, maybe she shouldn't allow the little angel to drive?

Over/under on accidents and DUIs this little angel has that annabanana didn't disclose: 10.

For that kind of money a year I simply don't believe it's only the son who is ****ing up right and left on the roads.  My son, for example, was kind of a shitty (Okay, daughter was kind of shitty, son was a ****ing disaster) driver in his teenage and early 20's years and our yearly insurance never even topped $700, for four cars and four drivers.
Of course, way before the approved Obama age of adulthood, 26, both were out of the house and paying all their own bills.
Sure miss those days. :lmao: :lmao:

If she uses Progressive then she should just shut up and make her payments because that's just about the same as donating to the democrat party.

Confiscate sonny boy's keys and keep him off the roads.

Get sonny boy off your insurance policy.

The bus pass would be nice, if he ever looks for a job.

Getting recreational chemicals out of the house would also be advisable.

Stop blaming the insurance company, the police, and the phase of the Moon for sonny boy's woes and accept the fact that he is responsible for his predicament(s), even if he won't.

If it's running $11k a year, that kid has a whole lot more on his record than a bunch of speeding tickets.  I've got four people and half a dozen vehicles on mine, and it runs less than a quarter of that.

It sounds like he had enough incidents for the insurance company to place him on the state's "uninsurable plan"  Which can happen if he has had one too many deals (Speeding tickets, accidents, and such).  Progressive is actually fairly good at insuring these sorts, though back when I had a few deals, they always seemed surprised that I paid them on time.

Requiring everyone to have car insurance was a LIBERAL idea.  So eat it.

Conservatives didn't fight all that much since most of them ALREADY had car insurance.

Not to mention at 26, that ain't a child!  If your kid is unable to take care of him/herself at 26, you totally f'ed up as a parent.

I am willing to bet most of us here were on our own at no later than 19.  College sort of counts, but only if you had your own apartment and job.  But you get 1/2 credit if you DIDN'T move back home.

I remember walking from my apartment to the local bar (Malibu's Dume Room) on my 21st birthday and buying myself a drink (I had been buying booze for a long time from the nearby supermarket since there was a checker there who was cute and liked me: Lucky's Beer with the rebuses in the cap -- $5 a case).

It amazes me how the Millennials have been infantilized.

Since I was ruminating, I realized I have been working for 40 years, and non-stop for 37 years (there were some breaks while I was in HS and college).

The last few days on the Dow might push my retirement back as much as 2 years!

That is my (non) plan.  The experts across the spectrum have been clear -- this, too shall pass.

But my 401K and other investments are back to Jan 1 of this year, wiping out not just my growth but my contributions.  When I rejigger my numbers I still have to wait to retire unless a big time bull market breaks out in the next 5 years.

36. No. Kick him off your insurance policy.

If wants to drive, let him get his own car insurance.

I know from personal experience that enabling an adult child does not always end well.

Well, I bet it was awkward nosing around that close to the truth while trying not to step in it.

Man, reading that thread made my head hurt.

I remember in HS, seeing my friends where their parents bought them really nice cars, etc and being really envious.... I've ran into them from time to time... one has achieved ultimate status as a pizza delivery man.. a couple working at a local grocery store, etc.  Probably still waiting on handouts.

Me?  Heck no... worked like a dog at a fast food restaurant, did the lawn mowing/shoveling snow thing when i reached my hours limit to make some side cash.  Bought my car, paid my own insurance, gas, etc.

I wouldn't change it for a second, even though back then it made me feel like Mom and Dad were "mean to me", etc.  Now I'm extremely thankful for their foresight.

Dow goes up, Dow goes down.  Sorry you had such a massive loss, I'm hoping that you spread your risk a bit through mutual funds or multiple stocks?  I try to be happy no matter what it's doing.  when it's low, you buy for a bargain, when it's high, you sell for a profit and diversify some more.  What's going on right now is just a stumble, I like to look at the overall trajectory since the stock market started to make myself feel better.

Wonder what a graph of inflation would look like superimposed on that graph?
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism.
