Cruz Joins Birthright Citizens Brigade
« on: August 22, 2015, 08:04:14 AM »
Though I have known Cruz to be against "birthright citizenship" in the past, I am glad that this issue has been brought to focus.

Cruz joins the right’s ‘Birthright Citizens’ Brigade’

The number of Republican presidential candidates opposed to birthright citizenship – the 14th Amendment’s constitutional principle that if you’re born in the United States, you’re a citizen of the United States – just keeps growing.

[Sen. Ted Cruz], in an interview on the Michael Medved radio show, made his position clear: “We should end granting automatic birthright citizenship to the children of those who are here illegally.”

The presidential candidate acknowledged that a change in the law would be a heavy lift, saying “I think it is possible, but any constitutional amendment by its nature is difficult to achieve.”

Acknowledging Donald Trump’s role in adding the issue of birthright citizenship to the fight for the Republican nomination, the Texas senator said, “I welcome Donald Trump articulating this view. It is a view I have long held.”

It’s worth clarifying, though that Cruz seems to believe it’s time to amend the Constitution to alter the 14th Amendment’s guarantee, while Trump believes in passing laws that challenge the 14th Amendment in the courts...

I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed, a democracy in a republic, a sovereign Nation of many sovereign States; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes. I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies.

And once again MSNBC perpetuates a blatant bald face lie.

I think fighting in court would be easier and quicker as long as OBlamer doesn't try to intimidate the SC Justices like he has in the past.
From what I have read and learned in school the 14 amendment was so the slaves could be citizens not Illegal mexicans.

Madcow is still on MessNBC ?
I thought she was swept away with all the other filth in the most recent MSNBC deadwood housecleaning.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

I propose a very simple solution to the spawning of non-citzens' babies on US soil.  The illegal mothers and fathers can chose among one of two options:  put the kid up for adoption, which may or may not mean sending them to an orphanage OR hoist the anchor (baby) and depart as an intact family.

Yeah, okay, so no need for any begging of a clearly liberally biased Supreme Court to interpret the American Constitution the way we all know it should have been interpreted.  And no need to apologize for "breaking up families".  If illegal aliens come in to deposit a baby as their future welfare ticket, let them wait the entire 21 years it takes under the immigration laws in order to claim their ticket.  That's assuming they're even still allowed to flaunt their disrespect for our country's laws by then.  Perhaps in those decades we'll have a Supreme Court that actually upholds the law the way it was meant to be cherished.

I personally don't care one bit if it costs money to round up and deport every damn illegal alien in this country.  I'm sick and tired of them, their apologists and their enablers.  What is so wrong about legal immigrants and US born citizens demanding that ALL should have to abide by the Rule of Law?  Maybe it's time to be alot more callous and alot less ****ing stupid about standing up for what's in America's best interests.  That is NOT encouraging a flood of illegals to swarm over here, commit crimes (the first one BEING here) and expect Americans to pay for it all.  **** that shit.  If Democrats and others feel such overwhelming empathy, let THEM sponsor and support the next illegal mother and child combo that manages to sneak into the country.  They can start by paying the damn hospital bill and feed, shelter, clothe and educate the whole illegal lot for 21 years.

Illegal border crossing needs to be made a felony, so that the individual that does, once convicted,  is ineligible to vote. Permanently.  We have an "in door", and anyone that gets in through "the window" should be forever prohibited from citizenship as well.

Basically, we need to end the flow of undocumented democrats where we can, and mitigate against the ones that slip through the cracks to the largest degree possible, where we can't. The obvious answer to the left illegally importing future democrat voters, is to make the penalty for crossing the border illegally, severe to the point of disenfranchisement.

Besides, 'Felony Illegal Entry' has a nice ring to it.

Step 1: End welfare support for anyone who cannot prove they are in the country legally (Even with the "anchor babies" they get a small stipend to support THE CHILD, not the family)
Step 2: Make it a felony to knowingly hire or employ anyone who is not a legal citizen. Private citizens are liable to jail time, corporations face fines that would bankrupt them (on the order of $100K per illegal per day they worked there).

If they can't afford to feed themselves or get work, they'll self-deport.

Bring pressure on the big bosses.

The son of a bitch currently occupying the White House sued my state for just trying to protect her borders (following federal law), and invited Mexico and all the countries southwards to join the lawsuit.  Then CA and NM piled on and sued AZ citing, as one reason, that SB1070, would force more illegals into their generous benefits states. :thatsright:
I'm not voting for Jeb, who called illegal entry an act of love OR Rubio who tried to pass a bipartisan bill that would have granted defacto amnesty to these criminals.

These are truly troubling times. 'As serious as a heart attack' troubling.

From what I have read and learned in school the 14 amendment was so the slaves could be citizens not Illegal mexicans.

The 13th 14th and 15th were all intended to protect free slaves.

The language is very clear in the 14th about who can be a citizen and who can't.  Unfortunately the "equal protection" clause has been abused to allow everything from gay marriage to anchor babies to happen in the U.S.

All these people talking about "we need to amend the 14th" show how clueless they are about the amendment right there.  Especially the 8pm'er on Fox.
