My generic drug went from 10.00 to 54.00 for a 90 day supply.

Sticker shock when I picked up the refill today.

Local ( and fairly trustworthy) pharmacy tells me of the 3 generic brands of this drug, ALL have increased the price.
We commiserated over the fact that there is no functioning watch dog organization to look into possible collusion.

The only good news is that the pharmacist found that Wal-Mart is still selling for the 10.00 price and she was willing to match this and give me credit for this
90 day cycle.
The bad news is that this is the only drug I can use for what I need it for.

Sounds like your dumb liberal ass should be shopping at WalMart, huh?

And then Randy, who would like you to forget that he speaks from experience, chimes in:

and still get enough customers to create the largest profit and then charge that amount.

In the RX world this might mean killing some people, many people, but that is the good ole American way.

Maybe time we change that.

And in the insurance world, that means turning away small businesses who will then not get contracts and who then must fold. Is that about right, Mr. Insurance Broker?

Maybe time we change THAT, huh?

Every time I turn the TV on some damn law firm is running an ad for free money for DUmmies if they've taken this or that drug.....but they expect to buy said drugs for pennies and then collect millions.

Yeah.

I wonder what sorts of drugs the primitives are taking.

I'm on three cardiac prescriptions--alas--since the heart attack at 2 a.m. May 10 of this year, coincidentally the last time I had a cigarette, too.

For 30-day supplies, one is $4, a second is $4, and the third is $20.

There's nothing special about these prices; they're not from any sort of program, and those are the total costs, period, no additional payments by insurance.  Any Tom, Dick, or Harry can walk up to the counter of the pharmacy and get them at those prices.

So why are the primitives spending so much on drugs?

Drug prices are strange. I have an ointment I use off and on and for the last 10+ yrs it normally runs $30 to $35. I got a refill the other day and it was $400 for the same brand and size. I said keep it and called my doctor for something different.

However wtf caused it to go up by 1000%???

They are abusing drugs. I suspect they pop pain pills and anti-psychotic medications.

3. Wal-Mart has it for 10.00 here, too.

Gonna call my doc and see If I can get a script for 180 supply, which should cost 20.00 at Walmart, and 100.00 something at local pharmacy.
Hate to give biz to Wal mart but I do not have much latitude in the budget.

She'd like to spend more but she can't afford it so she will hold her nose and buy from the place with the best price.   Dixiegrrrrl, you don't have much latitude in your budget because you're stupid, just another stupid primitive who has been making bad decisions your whole life.  You primitives aren't poor because of Reagan or Bush or Fox News or Rush Limbaugh, you're poor because you're stupid.

I am on eight (8) different prescription drugs and I have no insurance which covers such.  Thanks to Walmart and their $4 plan (and other interference in the drug market) my entire monthly drug cost is less than $50.

DUmmies, I am going to help you out here.  If you have a drug which is not on the $4 plan, go to GoodRx.com and print out a coupon to use at your pharmacy.  These coupons can work miracles.  They have for me.  My Walmart pharmacy keeps the coupon info on file so I do not have to bring a new one each time.  Sweet deal!

Well, what kind of drugs are they REALLY spending money on?  Judging by some posts, they can't possibly be legal except in some future hippie Nirvana.

I get most of my prescription meds on post for free (well, thanks to taxpayers anyway) because hubby retired as a 30-year veteran.  However, I don't have pet insurance on the 12 furbabies and thus go to K-Mart (WalMart's evil little brother :-)) for Tiberius's two blood pressure meds.  Total cost to me is about $10.  Yeah, they're generics, but they're also meds that people can and do use so I assume the no insurance costs for people would be about the same amount.
