Has anyone been on a job interview and got asked a weird question like Who would you be Batman or
Robin?

Or If you had to be natural disaster what would you be and why?

Why are people being asked these questions and how do you answer them?

My wife got asked this question and she asked Which Robin are we talking about and she went on to show that she knew the Batman lore and my wife was thinking if I say batman it would show a strong leader if she said Robin it might show her as a follower or weak.

I am finding a lot of friends being ask those questions and I just wonder if there is a right way to answer these questions?

Is diabeticman's wife applying at a comic book store or head shop?  Or was this just made up?

Actually, for some types of jobs "weird" questions like this are asked in interviews, 1.) to get the interviewee beyond whatever rehearsed answers they may have, and 2.) to see how well the interviewee thinks outside-of-the-box, creatively. IOW, can and how would the interviewee think and respond "on their feet" when faced with an unanticipated situation.

So I don't think this was a made up :bouncy: . I think dm - and maybe his wife - showed their inflexibility and lack of creativity; I suspect wifey won't be getting that job.

I had an interview a few years ago, and got a very specific & job related question.  But had never been asked this before.

Spend a LOT of time using Excel, and am totally self taught over 20 years in workforce.  Sure, I have picked up tricks & tips from other coworkers.  But the woman interviewing me asked "what is your favorite function in Excel?". Had never really thought about it.  Laughed, made some chit chat, and finally gave her an answer.  She liked it, and ultimately hired me.

When I conduct interviews, I always ask "who would you rather be, diabeticman or his inflatable wife?" I time it just as the applicant is taking a drink of coffee.

If the applicant selects either option, the interview is over. If the applicant laughs and snorts coffee out of his nose, I put a checkmark in the "management potential" box.

Getting people "off their game" can have interesting results. In your case you probably relaxed and in your chit-chat discussed how you learned and how you used various features. IOW, you talked of job experiences in an unrehearsed way and gave examples of your ability to learn. So that was a very good outside-of-the-box question for a technical position. If dm's wife was applying for a manglement position the Batman and Robin question might be suitable, though it's not very well-crafted, IMO. It lends itself to brief answers with reversions to canned rehearsed explanations.

This was only a "job interview" in the sense that the guy on the other end of the phone was trying to determine if he'd use her phone sex line again.

It does seem that diabeticman's old lady loses her job every week, or at least she's turned down for one just as often. They probably let her go when she starts turning her workspace into a shrine to the kitties she isn't allowed to have at her place.

Vlookup has been my best friend since the promotion. Oh look that sheet has 5000 codes on it and I have 400 eliminations of which probably 375 are already matched to codes on the master r sheet...well you know the rest. Hallelujah

Before this thread gets derailed I thought I might observe that BatGirl died today at 78. RIP.
As I recall she was Commissioner Gordon's daughter.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.
