What is proper etiquette on the golfcourse when you walk by a house

where someone is taking a swim? Just when I think my community can't possibly fall further back in time, they up and get puerile Victorian.

My husband and I left on vacation for a week and hired a young lady to watch the house and dog while we were gone. We were damn lucky. We have known her since she was a young kid and she and my daughter have become besties over the years. But the real fortunate break for us was that she had vet experience, which was critical since that was the only way that we would even consider leaving our ailing dog.

She had my permission to invite friends over, which I knew was important to her because she was moving on and leaving the State the day after we returned. So, for that week she enjoyed the property in a normal way, or what would be normal anywhere else. For example, she and her family and friends did an art project on the lawn one day and on the last night they were here, they had a small social out on the porch. It was Friday night, but lights were out by eleven.

She also enjoyed the pool, and this is where it gets cray-cray. When she steps in the pool, golfers show up along the property, seemingly out of no where. I checked this out to confirm it on the security cameras and I have to say that, although I have seen some inexplicable behavior in the past, this was over the top. You would think they were looking for 14K balls the way they tested the edges of the property line.

And, this didn't happen just once, it happened the two times she stepped into the pool in the late afternoon hours. Fortunately, her boyfriend was with her one of those nights.

I have to admit, I was alarmed, so I ran the security cams the day she left, which was just minutes before we arrived. It was in the time of the evening when there is no more sunlight for the natural eye to pick up. What I saw was a very bright light coming down the golfpath. It was so bright I thought it was a golfcart, but at some point I could see the figure of three men-with one of them holding what must have been a very bright flashlight. They were VERY slow to walk past my house, and even dawdled for a while.

When they did go past my house, they appeared to dawdle behind the next house too.

Another security camera picked up the flashing headlights of a car that was parked inside the development. This was pretty weird, because it appeared as if they were all together and were checking out both the back and front of the house.

I don't find any of this reassuring, except to say that once my husband and I returned a few minutes later, everything seemed to get "normal."

I wouldn't bother reporting it because I'm sure the good buddies in the neighborhood will just claim that it was part of their neighborhood watch program. Which is a lot of bunk, because key to a good neighborhood watch program is having a good relationship with all your neighbors before you start prowling with vigilante groups. At this point, you have to ask yourself, if they really thought something was wrong, why didn't they call the police? Why handle something like this yourself?

My suggestion:  Move to some "diverse" inner city area.

But, at the distance it was captured, the culprits will be the only ones who would recognize themselves.

You can, however, tell a lot about body language. It was disgusting the way they vacillated between righteous indignation, perverse curiosity, and the pretense of finding their ball.

I mean, these were young girls they were creeping up on. It made me wonder if the golfer's wives knew what they were up to.

I wouldn't ever choose to live within a mile of a golf course to begin with due to the intensely toxic nature of the horrific chemicals they use to maintain the weed-free greens. That cancer-causing issue aside, is it possible to install some nice privacy invoking greenery that would block any views from the golf course onto your pool?

Or would it be possible to speak to the golf course management and ask them to plant some nice greenery that would block the immature peeping toms from peering into your back gardens so that you and your neighbors aren't victimized by perverts again? It's very likely that the peeping pervs were golf course employees.

I would certainly alert the golf course management, but I would also look at taking matters into my own hands. Privacy is important!

4. There is something suitable growing in place.

There's already vegetation in place, which is what made their behavior stand out. Most golfers just take it for a loss if their balls fall in the general area.

The pervs were not employees. Most interaction with the employees are positive ones. They are good people, just trying to make a living. But the members are another story. Or I should say, a circle of them have abused their positions in the community for so long, that they will try to play a strong offense against anyone who presents a challenge to the current social structure.

I suspect that these are the golfers that are stepping over the line, here. No point in taking this further because they will only claim that whatever they were doing was for the good of the community.

They don't even realize it. But the day they do, this will be the smallest of all the infractions that they will have to acknowledge was wrong and abusive.
