Patriotism! 
I was fishing at a nearby state park that has a very small lake. There is also a Veteran's Memorial right on the lake shore. I was across the lake from it, but could still hear the noisy kids.
(It's a very small lake.)
I was ignoring them for the most part, but then it got very quiet where they were. I looked over and all of them were gathered in front of the flag display, the US Flag, the Illinois state flag and a POW/MIA flag.
After a few minutes of quiet, I started hearing them say the Pledge of Allegiance.
They left that area shortly afterwards, but I could still hear them a little farther away. When I was leaving, I took another round through the park. I should have guessed it would be a group of kids like this, Clinton Community YMCA.
