MineralMan spins a traffic bouncy

Obeying traffic laws? How hard is it?

I drove back from having dinner at a friend's house yesterday evening at dusk. I was on an Interstate highway with a speed limit of 70 MPH. Apparently I'm unique. I was in the right lane, doing exactly 70 MPH via my cruise control.

I passed no cars. Dozens of cars passed me, all going at least 10 MPH above the limit. Many were going even faster than that.

What's the hurry, folks?

11. I drive the speed limit, when it is safe to do so.

If the speed limit was 85, I'd drive that speed. If traffic is moving at the speed limit or above, it's generally light traffic, so there's not a lot of need for fast reaction times, as long as you're paying attention to traffic ahead, alongside, and behind you. I don't allow myself to be distracted while driving.

So far, I've had zero accidents, save one in a supermarket parking lot, when someone backed out of a space while I was behind that space. I've also had zero traffic tickets since I started driving in 1962. I'm proud of that record, and intend to maintain it as long as I'm driving.

15. I know someone who once got a speeding ticket for 30 in a 35 zone.

On a clear day with light traffic.
Small town cop who had it in for my friend. Ticket got tossed by judge but don't mean nothing when you're pulled over.
cop got his about 15 years later. Did 10 years on corruption charges, along with the mayor, two city council clowns, and the police chief walked into his fancy office and blew his brains out.

Blew his brains out? You sure he was not blowing something else?

I don't believe it.

Minnesota's pretty crowded--yes, I've been there--and I don't see how any highway in that state--yes, I've driven in Minnesota--could sustain a 70 mph speed limit.  It's my understanding federal law allows higher speed limits only in low-traffic areas.

The mineral-headed Minnesota Moses probably deals with the same sorts of conditions as Atman in Connecticut or the sparkling old dude in Maryland.

Now, franksolich deals with slightly less traffic and congestion:

What`s the point rock head?

Things are pretty slow on Skins's island, and so the primitives need something to keep their minds occupied.

In this instance, the mineral-headed Minnesota Moses is simply reminding us that he's "morally superior" to the rest of us.

They do that a lot, especially when they're bored.

It dawned on me that I have not seen Dreamer Tatum in a while and am sure the grave dancing thread would have been epic if he/she had been tombstoned.

It's bone-chillingly scary, how the Bernie primitives have managed to liquidate so many members.....and without anybody noticing.

Take the cbayer primitive, for example.

If only Comrade Skimmer knew, he surely wouldn't allow any of this to happen.

Curious, in a abnormal psychology way, how the DUchebags decide what laws are important and to be adhered to.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Frank, you know I've travelled those roads, not nearly as much as you, of course.  It constantly feels like you are climbing or descending hills.  It is quite difficult to speed, except for down some of sandhills.

Well, but you kind of get my point here, sir.

Something might look like it's okay, but really, it's best simply to follow the law.

I can't tell you how many small-town tennis courts, swimming pools, baseball fields, whatnot, have been built from speeding (and drinking) fines exacted from non-natives.

And it needs pointed out Nebraska is not a speed-trap state.  It's just that we get so many outsiders who come here and think that just because it's Nebraska, they can do what they want to do.  We got rules just like blue states and blue cities--and unlike in blue states and blue cities, if one observes the rules, one doesn't get into any trouble, not the least bit.

And a reminder to lurking primitives--our esteemed member dutch508, is a real-life cop--and a very good one--and his territory encompasses U.S. Highway 20 running across the roof of Nebraska and alongside the scenic Niobrara River, from South Sioux City in the east to Harrison 500 miles to the west.

Pay attention to the rules, and dutch508'll leave you alone, in peace and quiet.
