MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A Memphis Police officer was killed after being shot during a traffic stop. It happened near Cottonwood and Perkins Roads Saturday night.

The police officer has been identified as 33-year-old Sean Bolton. He was taken to Regional Medical Center in critical condition, and later passed away. Officer Bolton was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was hired by the Memphis Police Department in October 2010.

Memphis Police said Officer Bolton was conducting a traffic stop when someone inside the vehicle shot him. Police were notified of the shooting by a citizen, who used Officer Bolton's radio.

Another officer, Sean Bolton, got killed. Every week, a police officer gets killed.

Memphis Police say they are searching for 29-year-old Tremaine Wilbourn following the death of officer Sean Bolton.

Police issued a first degree murder warrant for his arrest Sunday afternoon.

"When you look at this individual, you're looking at a coward," said police director Toney Armstrong as he held up a picture of Wilbourn at a press conference Sunday.

The killer is Tremaine Wilbourn.
