global1 (12,761 posts) http://www.democraticunderground.com/128031874QuoteThe MSM Has Ignored What Should Have Been The Political News Story Of The Day......Last night was epic. The Bernie Sanders campaign made history. A 100,000+ Americans in every state of the union met to organize as a force to elect Bernie President in 2016. An army of foot soldiers was created to knock on doors and tell the Bernie story. That has never been done before in such a unique way by anyone running for office. If this was pulled off by one of those in the Clown Car or even by Hillary - this would have been the biggest political story of the day. They would have been hailed as a genius or a political guru. We still hear them give accolades to Howard Dean's 50 state strategy. Well last night was on par with that 50 state strategy and it was pulled off so smoothly using the technologies of out time - without having the backing of monied political sugar daddies like the Koch's or Adelson. If you think of how far Bernie has come since he announced his candidacy in Vermont - it is an amazing feat. But because it is Bernie and because he is hitting the 1%, the corporatists and banksters right between the eyes - telling the truth that no one can deny they need to minimize Bernie. So they are not giving him the proper coverage or kudos for this historic political accomplishment This makes me even more passionate to work hard for Bernie and get him elected. Last night was another step forward in the Bernie revolution campaign. Feel the Bern!!!!!
The MSM Has Ignored What Should Have Been The Political News Story Of The Day...
global1 (12,761 posts) 10. I'm Looking At All The Recommends My Original Post Got And Actually Reread My Post....I couldn't help but wonder what are the journalists, newspeople and media moguls thinking that maybe read my post as well. I'm sure we have some of them as lurkers here or even perhaps incognito members of DU with an alias. Are they thinking something like - I realize we ignored that story - but I had to - I have to keep my job - my bosses didn't want me to touch it. Or are they thinking something completely different? Maybe something like - we'll be kicking ourselves after Sanders wins Iowa and New Hampshire that we didn't take him more seriously and covered him. MSM really screwed up in my opinion. When will they join the Revolution?
Triana (21,078 posts) 4. GUESS WHO owns and controls the MSM?The 1%, the corporatists and banksters. Nothing proves it more than the fact that they practically ignored yesterday's historic news.
Cleita (73,647 posts) 8. The organizer of our event said she sent out press releases to every local media and no one came. This organizer is a known politician here on the Central Coast. I have spoken to another person in the south of the state (CA) and it was the same there. They were ignored by the MSM. I wonder how many people had press at their events? We should compare notes.
Duval (1,158 posts) 48. The Corporate Powers tell MSMwhat to report and what to leave out. Case in point is Comcast telling MSNBC not to talk about the TPP. We gave up on hearing the truth from the media years ago, during GWB's term. They not only dislike Bernie, they are afraid of him. I like the independent guys, too
Cleita (73,647 posts) 25. Usually you see them there with the cameras and other things like tags that tell you they are the press. I go to city council meetings and other such venues occasionally and you often see the press there. They even came to one of our local Democratic Club meeting a couple of months ago because one of the speakers was making the news, but this snub of Bernie has me baffled.
sabrina 1 (56,217 posts) 13. I keep saying this, but he doesn't NEED the Corporate Media. Bernie has the REAL mediaTODAY'S media working for him. All they would do is attack him. The longer they ignore him, the better. You can bet they are watching, they did this with OWS too. They were there with their news vans and helicopters, watching, but didn't cover it, still thinking they had the POWER to influence people. But OWS organizers had prepared their OWN media. The Corporate Media couldn't understand why and how the movement spread so rapidly across the country when it was only supposed to be in one City, for at the most, two weeks. They are dinosaurs, no one uses them for news anymore. When they realized that OWS had some 'secret' way to get the information out to the WORLD, then they decided they needed to start covering them. THAT's when the smears and bias and negative coverage began. But it was TOO LATE, OWS had already SUCCEEDED in getting their message out without the interference of the Corporate Media. So let's HOPE they do the same thing with Bernie until we are sure the entire country hears him and gets to know him WITHOUT the biased coverage of the Corporate Media.
SheilaT (18,412 posts) 15. I keep on being reminded of Howard Dean and how he generated thousands, maybe millions of enthusiastic followers. The fact that he did not get the nomination isn't all that important, especially more than a decade on. He himself said he never expected to win the nomination, and was there just to change the dialogue. And to a large extent he succeeded. Now, us former Deaniacs, and a huge number of newcomers, are getting Bernie Sanders and his message. I sincerely think that things are different now. This is a sea change. Don't forget the entire Occupy Wall Street phenomenon. It seems to have disappeared, but it left behind a lot of changes.
sabrina 1 (56,217 posts) 22. OWS is very much still around. They are working for Bernie eg, using the same skillsthey used to get their movement known across the Globe. They are very active also in helping other movements, eg, the Ferguson Protests, and all the demonstrations against Police Brutality that have taken place since then. In Oakland, where they had so many runins with the robo cops themselves, in LA etc. They are still involved in helping people who are being foreclosed on, and on Student Debt etc. and the homeless. It's really exciting to see these movements join to together and help each other, but then it shouldn't be surprising. There is still an OWS presence in every state, very active now in Bernie's campaign. They were excellent at using their own media and Social Media to get THEIR movement into the public consciousness and are doing the same thing re Bernie. I agree that things are different now than when Dean was stopped by the Corporate Media. There was no Social Media back then, to speak of eg. THAT is where young people are active today and they despise the Corporate Media. So whenever there is an attempt to smear Bernie by someone from the media or eg, Claire McCaskill, it is all over Social Media and destroyed which is why so far, all the attempts to smear him have failed. He has a literal ARMY of hundreds of thousands of volunteers online fielding every attempt, see Gutierrez eg, to derail this campaign. But it is urgent to increase those numbers BEFORE they really start going after him, and they will so that no matter what they try to do it will backfire, as everything they've done so far, has. It is due to the activists and supporters he has already that so far, nothing has managed to affect him. Good post btw, just wanted people to know that just because the MSM doesn't cover them, OWS is very much alive and active. You are right that OWS laid a foundation. Someone said recently that they were 'seed and Bernie is the fruit' of that seed.
Why isn't ace girl reporter Nads all over this?
Nadin BrzezinskiJuly 29 at 9:34pm ·So walked in from the ‪#‎Bernie2016‬ event here in ‪#‎SanDiego‬. At that event alone, there were 500-600 people, we will go low. Even if the overflow reaches 600, possibly. That said, I will be writing this in the morning. I am feeling extremely drained and I do not want to mangle the English language too badly. But some observations This crowd had both old and young, white, black and latino, and... I have never heard anybody get excited over...policy. Yes, he went heavily into policy in his part of the event, and people cheered. I have never, ever seen that.East your spinach... extremely large roars of applause.I will have the story tomorrow, I interviewed people from labor, and attendees, and the organizers. People are looking forward to this in a way that I have never seen before, and lord knows before we got into reporting, I did at one time get excited enough to consider working for the Dean campaign. Oh god that is actually over a decade ago.I think people are more excited about this one... as well as 2008. We shall see.Oh and we did get a few good shots. I have been going over them. I am not sure enough yet to share a few on FB, but enough for the article. (And a gallery)

She went to some sort of Bernie-fest the other night, here is the report from her FB.
She is on facebook? That must be a hoot to follow.

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site

I know I haven't been around much recently, but what on earth happened to change Nads beyond all recognition? Mangling the English language was her absolute forte.
