an open letter to WilliamPitt
« on: July 30, 2015, 04:25:20 PM »
Hey greaseboy.

Yeah, you, Bill; I’ve thought of you that way for almost fifteen years now, after I first noticed what’s apparently a permanent—and peculiar—sheen to your skin, especially your face.  It’s almost as if you rub vegetable oil on yourself (for whatever reason).

And many of your friends too, Bill; when one examines them in your wedding pictures, they seem to have that same shine, that same glist, suggestive of oily, greasy skin.  I dunno; maybe it’s a Boston thing, these overactive sebaceous glands.

Anyway.

- - - - - - - - - -

From one has-been to another has-been, we need to talk about it, Bill.

I’m sure it was discombobulating for you earlier this week, Bill, when you learned you aren’t as well-liked on Skins’s island as you used to be; in fact, those of us on this side were powerfully surprised at how unliked you are among the primitives.

And to think, there was a time you, Bill, were the number one primitive, top of the world.

From one has-been to another has-been, Bill, I believe what happened was that you overstayed your welcome on Skins’ island.  You hung around way too long, becoming stale and dull. Just plain and simple, the primitives got tired of you.

There was a time, Bill, we thought for sure when all was said and done, after all was over, you’d be known in history as the Greatest Primitive, Ever.  But you just hung around too long, Bill, and lost out to Chief S itting Bull, the bird-smacking stoned red-faced primitive, who at the height of his popularity, voluntarily absented himself from this mortal coil.

Maybe if you’d done the same thing, Bill, you’d now be known as the Greatest Primitive, Ever, instead of Redstone.

- - - - - - - - - -

You know, Bill, franksolich is a has-been too, but I’m pretty mellow and laid-back about it; everybody has his day, and then he doesn’t any more, and somebody else does.

I dunno when I peaked, Bill, but it was probably a few years ago, when that wretched miserable old bitch Anne won the Top DUmmie award for whatever year it was; when the sparkling old dude came in number two, and was given the very best award franksolich ever wrote. I’ve been downhill after that, Bill.

And I knew my day was done, and accepted it, a long time before anyone else did.

There used to be a time when franksolich posted something, even if utterly silly or trivial, both members and guests would rush post-haste to read what I said.  Those days are long gone now, Bill; sometimes I’m lucky if four or five people read anything I’ve written during the course of an entire day.

But it’s natural growth, evolution, and withering, Bill, which is why I’m copacetic with it.

I’ve been riding off to the sunset for ages now, Bill—but if you’ve ever seen a Nebraska Sandhills horizon, which you probably haven’t, you know it takes forever and ever before someone’s completely out of view.  I figure it’ll be at least a couple more years yet, before franksolich is barely a speck in the distance.

- - - - - - - - - -

Be philosophical about it, Bill; like franksolich, you had a good run, a great run, a better run than most people have.  You need to be humbly grateful, as franksolich is, for having been given that opportunity to bask in the near-universal warmth and affection of your fellows.

And that ain’t hay, Bill.

The Pitt and Madonna have a tremendous amount in common.  Both hit their peak years ago and both should've been found dead in a puddle of their own vomit due to a combination of alcohol/ narcotics at that same time.

My suggestion to Bill is, better to be a has-been rather than a never-was.

I can't believe how much he tied up his identity, his sense of self, with Skins's island.

Geezuz, it's only the internet.

Yo Pittstain. Frank is too kind, as Frank is wont to be. I'll be blunt, because I am not Frank.

You jumped the shark with 24 business hours and "bank on it"... or whatever it was you said. You were once a respected member at DU. Then your dream of having the ultimate scoop did you in.  Now ordinary folk, when faced with a massive fail such as yourself, would work hard to regain respect. Say I was wrong and move on.

You, however, did nothing of the kind.

You kept doubling down on your scoop until you became if not the laughingstock of the internet then at least in the top five.  Still, you kept at it. The more you kept at it, the worse it was for you.

I will admit you were a bright flash in the pan. Like all bright flashes, you burned out.

Now we have arrived to today. You are a sad shell of your former self. In short, a loser. The biggest loser among a group of losers. When even the losers don't listen to you it is time to hang it up.  Normally I would say off yourself, but nobody would care. Much like the Big Guy, who is dying, you have been relegated to DU Persona non Grata. As it were.

Perhaps that should be put on your gravestone when your liver finally gives out.  Here lies William Pitt. He achieved Persona non Grata status at DU before his liver gave out.

You should hole up somewhere, go on a massive bender, and drink yourself to death. It is your destiny.

5 cents please.

Our boss Rebel some weeks ago unwittingly and without meaning to, stated why franksolich is passe now.

I disremember to whom he directed the comment, but he pointed out that while the primitives tend to think of franksolich as Evil Incarnate, the people who really know, know franksolich as a nice guy, one of the nicest guys one can ever hope to meet.

And it's true; I think I've bent over backwards, being nice to the primitives.

As if it availed me anything.

Then Rebel went on to suggest that the primitives haven't yet been exposed to the tender mercies of others here; others not as nice guys as franksolich is.....and that maybe if they had to deal with some of these others, they'd realize franksolich is a softie, a great guy, a milquetoast.

At which I thought, yeah, that's right; for ten years I've tried, and I've tried very hard, the "nice guy" means of getting along with the primitives.....and got nowhere.

And if the primitives don't reciprocate to niceness, well then, it's time to cry havoc! and let slip the dogs of war.

Maybe that'll teach them to get along.

207. Pitt has a few other issues than just being wrong about Rove

He routinely tosses out emotional screeds that aren't based on facts and gets very upset when he gets called on it.

I get why it appeals to some, but I never found Pitt to be anything other than a tedious mediocre writer.

This is a great thread, but any attempt at condensation would be pointless.

It's got lots of comedy, including the fishy primitive and SidDithers getting at each other's throats, and funnier still, Judy grasswire alleging herself to be a "former editor."

Yet again, in the midst of all these hundreds of posts about the drunken Pitt, DUmmies need to be reminded that 'tis now, and ever shall be, all about nadin:

Quote

290. Ahem, that was precisely a call out

And the bullies also do that to me. Don't worry, the time for me to leave is coming near... and it has none to do with bullies. But all do with another aspect of DU that is tolerated. (Though the bullies are a problem and that series of posts was grade A bullying), but antisemitism. Yes, there I said it.

Just because it is coded, does not mean the whistles are not quite loud if your ear is trained to it.

I can agree with that, Frank. At least a has-been can sit back and muse on one's past achievements. Pittstain can sit back and revel in the infamy of being the biggest idiot on an internet island of idiots and of being one of the biggest laughingstocks of the internet.  I would tend to agree with you that he should wear those badges with pride. Someone has to be the biggest idiot of a time period and he certainly fits that description.   :cheersmate:

Yeah, it's inarguable that Bill played a not unsubstantial part in making Skins's island the laughingstock of the internet.  And he had some formidable competition too--poor stupid Beth, Chief S itting Bull, Tits-In-Ass, the late red round one, dysfunctional American, the lying tits primitives, cousin nadin, Pamela, &c., &c., &c., but he topped them all.

But because he hung around too long, instead of going away in the manner of Chief S itting Bull at the peak of his popularity, he denied himself the title the Greatest Primitive, Ever.

On the Mount Rushmore of the Greatest Primitives, while the scowling visage of the bird-smacking stoned red-faced primitive Redstone occupies the position of George Washington as on the real monument, the greasy face of Bill takes up where Abraham Lincoln is on the real monument, not nearly as prominent a position.

Thanks Ralph!   :cheersmate:

I have watched the Pittstain for years. Kind of a hobby. I have always wondered what would happen to a dummie if he had a guaranteed nice income that he never had to work for, like all dummies want, and what would happen over the years.  Pittstain is exhibit number one of what happens to a dummie when that situation plays out.  Someone way smarter than I should write a peer reviewed article on him and publish it in a journal.
