Jefferson Jackson Dinners

In a recent post, a Hillary supporter touted that Hillary was keynote speaker at an Arkansas dinner party that are most important events for state Democratic Parties annually.

Now think back to the times when Jefferson and Jackson were presidents. That was a time of slavery and the taking of native lands. The Democratic party at the time of the civil war was the main supporter of slavery and the taking of lands.

The party these days is not the same, yet the most important event for state Democratic Parties annually are events that tout these old days and the old ways.

It is time that we do away with such events. Such events are like waving the confederate flag in the faces of the oppressed.

I think that they would've done this by now but what's holding them back is that doing it would draw attention to their evil history and there is no way to pin this one on the republicans.

Go to their official website and click on their party's history, it would seem to begin in 1920 with women's suffrage--everything that takes place before 1920 is airbrushed out.  Lying SOBs.  A party of lying POS used car salesmen from top to bottom.

But onward to the fun and games in the replies to the OP.

35. Thanks. That makes sense.

But that was the old party. We live in different times. Out with the Old in with the New.

The vestiges of slavery and Indian dispersal matter in that we need to separate ourselves from such evil thinking.

They're dead, Jim. Lets make progress, shall we? JFK is the founder of our new way of thinking, let's not let the past hold us down and make it seem like we are stuck on slavery, shall we? Don't you think?

When all is said and done, neither J or J thought Black Lives Matter, right?

Not JFK, LBJ is the founder of your new way of thinking--Black Votes Matter, Black Lives Are Disposable.

5. Good idea

Renaming these events would be excellent.

I wonder why the party leaders, like the Clintons, haven't done just that. Are they ignorant of the history? I find it rather shameful to have such big events under such racist banners.
They are not ignorant of the history, they are an integral part of it.

6. Stop trying to make DU suck.

JaneyVee gives RobertEarl too much credit.  He didn't build that suck all by himself.  He has had a lot of help over the years.

Then comes an entertaining pansy slapfest between RobertEarl and wyldwolf about who was the first to know about this history or maybe who knew about it but did not speak out against it.  Short version, which primitive is the one to which Black Lives Matter the most.

Then back to the replies.

27. That's awful

He should back out. Or he should speak and tell them to quit being so regressive as to use such figure heads in the 21st century.
Social Justice warfare demands that no democrat in good standing can ever again set foot in the south.

38. This is a party matter

Not a campaign item. YMMV.

I believe BLM. The two names at the head of these dinners did not.

Time to do away with them as leaders in anyway shape or form. Don't you think?
Rewrite history.  Predictable.

50. No, I disagree

No I do not agree. I am a party leader in my county and we have traditions that are important. I really do not care what you think about these party functions.

You do realize that there are democrats in the South and we are working hard to win our states. Some parties honor Jefferson and others look to other past democratic leaders. In Harris County, the big annual fundraiser for the Harris County party is the Johnson Rayburn Richards Dinner. The Texas State party big dinner is the Johnson Jordan dinner. I really do not care what you think about LBJ or other past Democratic leaders.

You are entitled to your opinion and I am free to disagree with this opinion

22. Lets just rename it the Clinton-Obama dinner
I thought that the idea behind the name change was to get rid of the racists?

DUmmies have no real knowledge of history. All of the original colonies/states had slaves. So, even Bernie is from a slave owning state.

And Bernie wants the communist government/state of the future to own all the slaves.

Actually they have already renamed the Jefferson/Jackson dinner in Connecticut.
