Rally at Fresno Co Sheriff who is letting ICE access to inmate records 7/23 at 11am
What: Rally outside of Sheriff’s Department Office
When: Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 11 am
Where (UPDATED): Sheriff's Department office located at 2200 Fresno
St. Fresno, CA 93724
Who: Fresno Immigrant Youth in Action and California Immigrant Youth
Justice Alliance, California Prison Moratorium Project, Immigration
Action Group from the Central Coast.
The Fresno Brown Berets, Mexican American Political Association, and others.
On July 9, 2015 the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department announced that
they had launched a “Unique Program at Fresno County Jail†that would
provide two ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) officers access
to inmate records and interview rooms at the jail. They boasted that
over 20 individuals had been turned over to ICE since the program
began June 22.
While a growing number of jurisdictions move toward reducing
collaboration with ICE, this new program does just the opposite. This
is yet another example of Sheriff Mims’ anti-immigrant record. Her
department initially refused to commit to implementing the TRUST Act
in 2013. It was not until members of Fresno Immigrant Youth in Action
held a civil disobedience in front of the county jail that Mims caved
to pressure.
Advocates have once again responded by launching the ICE out of Fresno
campaign, an effort to end all collaboration between local law
enforcement and ICE in Fresno County. It’s time to elevate the
conversation beyond buzzwords and talking points.
Originally, Sheriff Mims was scheduled to speak at a meeting at
12:00p.m. at Denny’s on Abby Street but it has changed to the
Sheriff’s Department office at 12:00p.m. We will be rallying right
outside leading up to Sheriff Mims speaking arrangement in hopes of
talking with Sheriff Mims directly.

1. So everyone wants the federal government to ignore federal law
On their particular issues. Some people want ICE to ignore immigration law. Some people want DEA to ignore drug laws, some people want ATF to ignore firearms laws, some people want IRS to ignore tax law, some people want EPA to ignore environmental law, some people want USDA to ignore agriculture law.
Regardless of what side of whatever issue one lands on, laws start becoming worthless when there is little to no enforcement. The federal agencies have jurisdiction everywhere, what the locals want to do or not do is pretty much immaterial as long as it doesn't obstruct federal authority acting within existing federal laws.
You noticed.
Well, notice this, ****tards...
...the Capable will always prosper because -- they're capable.
It's the Incapable who cannot feed, clothe, house and survive without the System.
That would be you and your kind...
...by your own incessant admissions.
You need us far more than we will ever need you.
I'd suggest you govern yourselves accordingly but you refuse all good advice and besides, it will be more entertaining for me this way.
