In one of this year's most intense international competitions, the United States has come out as best in the world â€” and this time, we're not talking about soccer.

This week, the top-ranked math students from high schools around the country went head-to-head with competitors from more than 100 countries at the International Mathematical Olympiad in Chiang Mai, Thailand. And, for the first time in more than two decades, they won.

Po-Shen Loh, a professor at Carnegie Mellon University and head coach for Team USA, says the competition is held over the course of two days. Students work on three math problems each.

"If you can even solve one question," Loh tells NPR's Arun Rath, "you're a bit of a genius."

The only thing that this 'disparity' has to do with are the kid's parents. If the parents aren't pushing their kids to achieve, they usually won't. - its much easier to send Tweets, post on Facebook, and other time wasting activities.

Sadly, too many parents feel if their kid is happy - then life is good.

Hmmmmm ... if the four guys with medals were the American team then two are "white", one looks east Asian, and the other looks south Asian (perhaps Indian?). I wonder how many of the other 99 nations' teams had that much diversity. IOW, the "significance" of what these DU-folk "saw" in that picture is what those DU-folk brought to it in their own hearts.

DU-folk seem unable to conceive of the fact that these young men - and not any women, blacks, Hispanics, and (apparently) Native Americans - are there because of their choices, un-coerced or -forced by government fiat.

I hope those Math Olympiad winners were able to spend some time there in Chiang Mai. I've heard it's a beautiful and interesting city.

East Asians have been un-PC minorities for some time now, for daring to be successful and thereby demonstrating that discrimination is uncommon or rare and increasingly impotent. South Asians are similarly becoming un-PC, for the same reason.

This is how the DUmmie/liberal/PC school of thought destroys everything. First they notice there are no blacks or women on the team, so they stick a few on there and they feel good. Then they get the dog shit kicked out them by every other team, and they do a slow burn as some other team gets their medals. They throw a fit until EVERYONE gets medals, and then the kids who are worth a damn stop competing because they're no longer distinguishable from some lulu hippie who can barely differentiate a function. Schools and parents who've had enough of that bullshit form new groups and competitions, and it isn't long before the whole cycle repeats itself. Meanwhile kids continue to have the same distribution of skills and potential, some of whom realize all of it come hell or high water, but most of whom never realize squat because of some liberal do-gooder hang-wringer still butthurt that they never won anything.
