Dzhokhar Tsarnaev transferred to Supermax prison

Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been transferred to the country’s most strict and secure prison while he appeals his death sentence, according to the Bureau of Prisons’ online inmate tracking system.

Tsarnaev, who will turn 22 on Wednesday, had been held as recently as Thursday at the high-security penitentiary at Florence, Colo.

He was moved Friday to the administrative security prison at Florence, known as Supermax. The facility houses some of the nation’s most notorious convicts, including Zacarias Moussaoui, who helped plan the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, and Richard Reid, known as the Shoe Bomber.

A former warden of the facility once described it as a “clean version of hell.”

Inmates are held in lockdown for 23 hours a day in 7-by-12-foot concrete cells, where they receive all their meals on trays slid through holes in steel doors. They are limited to two 15-minute phone calls only with family members each month, their mail is screened, and they have little communication with the outside world.

8. I will not celebrate this inhumane treatment

I am in NO WAY condoning, minimizing, mitigating, or diminishing in any way, shape, or form the crimes this man committed.

I AM condemning the treatment he and others in the SuperMax section receive. Not the fact they're locked down 23/7. Not the fact they can't move anywhere unless shackled and escorted. Not the fact their meals come through a hole in the door.

It is that they have nothing to do.

Driving people mad is, in my view, inhumane. Probably "cruel and unusual" as well.

Lock them up. Throw away the key. No problem. But teat them as HUMANS. To do otherwise is just vengeance.

And don't get me started on the death penalty.

I'm with Stinky (who by the way is not an internets laughing stock) in not celebrating this treatment. In true DUmp fashion, I support putting a bullet in the back of his head and sending a bill for the bullet to his mother.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Cold damp cell, straw on the floor, bucket to shit/piss in, bread and water....hey, it wasn't cruel and unusual punishment in 1800.

His crime was damn well inhumane, but I guess that doesn't matter to the laughing stock.

13. Humane treatment could look like this: Anders Breivik Goes To College

The guy who killed 77 children and adults in a mass slaughter (murder is too sterile a word for this EVIL act) has been enrolled as a Political Science major at Oslo University.

https://www.google.com/#q=breivik+college

He will see no change in his prison situation. Still in solitary. Still living the way he has been for the last several years since the 2011 slaughter that happened at his hand. But he will be allowed to study as a distance learning student. Such is the LAW in Norway that even the worst of the worst is treated like a HUMAN.

Meanwhile, we here in the US are the nation with the most people incarcerated and some of the worst LEGAL inhumanity perpetrated in the name of criminal justice. Okay, we don't have legal stonings, beheadings, hand amputations, canings and the like. But even those acts are at least brief and final, making them possibly more humane than our vaunted SuperMax.

One suspects the Russians have it right:

Quote
Federal Governmental Institution — penal colony № 6 Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in Orenburg region (Russian: ФКУ ИК-6 УФСИН России по Оренбургской области or Федеральное Казённое Учреждение — Исправительная Колония №6 Управления Федеральной Службы Исполнения Наказаний России по Оренбургской области), commonly known as the Black Dolphin Prison (Russian: Чёрный дельфин, Chyorny delʹfin), is a correctional facility in Sol-Iletsk, Orenburg Oblast, Russia. It is operated by the Federal Penitentiary Service. It is reputedly one of Russia's toughest prisons.

Quote
It is near the Kazakhstan border. The prison houses approximately 700 of the most serious criminals in Russia. It holds child molesters, murderers, terrorists, cannibals, serial killers and so called "maniacs". Prisoners at Black Dolphin are imprisoned for life.

Prison guards place blindfolds on arriving prisoners so that they can not map out the prison or plan escapes. Prisoners are also blindfolded whenever they are transported between buildings.

Also unique to Black Dolphin is the form in which guards escort inmates; prisoners are kept bent over at the waist while a guard holds their handcuffed hands behind their back, higher than the inmate's hips. This "stress position" allows for maximum control over the inmate, while depriving the inmate a view of their surroundings as well as preventing them from escaping and attacking prison staff.

While there have been rumors of inmate abuse and misconduct at Black Dolphin Prison, there are no confirmed reports or complaints.*

*the sparkling old dude needs to take note of that; nobody's complained.

Quote
Inmates are kept isolated and housed in a cell that has a set of three steel doors. For 90 minutes a day, they are transported to a large cage for exercise. During this time, the cell is searched for contraband or illegal items that inmates are not permitted to have.

Prisoners at Black Dolphin are kept under 24-hour supervision; they are not permitted to rest or sit on their bunks from the time they are awoken until it is time to sleep again. Every 15 minutes, a guard makes rounds to check on each cell to ensure inmates are complying with the rules.

The prisoners are fed soup four times a day. The prisoners are only allowed books, newspapers and a radio (which is their only link to the outside world). When prison officers make a command to the immates, they must respond with the words "yes, sir" (Russian: есть, гражданин начальник, tr. yest', grazhdanin nachalnik, literally "Yes, Citizen Chief").

Quote
There are 700 inmates and 900 officers of the Federal Penitentiary Service.

As NHSparky always says, 'Play stupid games, win stupid prizes'.

There is NOTHING wrong  with what is going to be this little sh!tstain's fate. That is the consequences HE HAS WROUGHT  with his own actions.  I have about as much sympathy  as Planck's Constant for this Oxygen-thieving little f#ckstick.

You have to act like a human in order to be treated like one. KILLING and wounding a  LOT of people on a whim, not as a part of some armed forces, just killing because they are 'infidels', THAT IS NOT SOMETHING A HUMAN DOES.

Here is an apt description  of what I mean:

Quote
The junior hoodlums who roamed their streets were symptoms of a greater sickness; their citizens (all of them counted as such) glorified their mythology of ‘rights’ . . . and lost track of their duties. No nation, so constituted, can endure

That was a work of FICTION,  and the writer had a better understanding  of human nature than you  do stinky the clown. He also said this about a hanging,

Quote
We passed in review and on home at a fast trot I don’t think anybody fainted and I don’t think anybody quite got sick, even though most of us didn’t eat much dinner that night and I’ve never heard the mess tent so quiet. But, grisly as it was (it was the first time I had seen death, first time for most of us), it was not the shock that Ted Hendrick’s flogging was — I mean, you couldn’t put yourself in Dillinger’s place; you didn’t have any feeling of: "It could have been me." Not counting the technical matter of desertion, Dillinger had committed at least four capital crimes; if his victim had lived, he still would have danced Danny Deever for any one of the other three — kidnapping, demand of ransom, criminal neglect, etc.
I had no sympathy for him and still haven’t. That old saw about "To understand all is to forgive all" is a lot of tripe. Some things, the more you understand the more you loathe them. My sympathy is reserved for Barbara Anne Enthwaite whom I had never seen, and for her parents, who would never again see their little girl.
As the band put away their instruments that night we started thirty days of mourning for Barbara and of disgrace for us, with our colors draped in black, no music at parade, no singing on route march. Only once did I hear anybody complain and another boot promptly asked him how he would like a full set of lumps? Certainly, it hadn’t been our fault — but our business was to guard little girls, not kill them. Our regiment had been dishonored; we had to clean it. We were disgraced and we felt disgraced.
That night I tried to figure out how such things could be kept from happening. Of course, they hardly ever do nowadays — but even once is ‘way too many. I never did reach an answer that satisfied me.  This Dillinger — he looked like anybody else, and his behavior and record couldn’t have been too odd or he would never have reached Camp Currie in the first place. I suppose he was one of those pathological personalities you read about — no way to spot them.

Well, if there was no way to keep it from happening once, there was only one sure way to keep it from happening twice. Which we had used.
If Dillinger had understood what he was doing (which seemed incredible) then he got what was coming to him... except that it seemed a shame that he hadn’t suffered as much as had little Barbara Anne — he practically hadn’t suffered at all.
But suppose, as seemed more likely, that he was so crazy that he had never been aware that he was doing anything wrong? What then?
Well, we shoot mad dogs, don’t we?
Yes, but being crazy that way is a sickness —
I couldn’t see but two possibilities. Either he couldn’t be made well — in which case he was better dead for his own sake and for the safety of others — or he could be treated and made sane. In which case (it seemed to me) if he ever became sane enough for civilized society... and thought over what he had done while he was "sick" — what could be left for him but suicide? How could he live with himself?
And suppose he escaped before he wasabout d and did the same thing again? And maybe again? How do you explain that to bereaved parents? In view of his record?
I couldn’t see but one answer.

Apparently you're too new to have been around during the sparkling old dude's heyday, which wound down about the turn of the decade.  But while those days lasted, they were great.

Back  when we were kids maybe, but now, I doubt it. They've  made 'playgrounds' as sterile of anything fun due to it being 'dangerous' or a 'liability'. Great things that would have eliminated  weak links like this from the gene pool like the cargo net?... Gone. But kids are 'safe'... God we are raising a nation of pansies now!

I'm trying to instill in my daughter that:

1)  Life is not fair

2)  The best way to deal with that unfairness is not to complain about it, but

3)  To continue to do the right thing

It's tough.  However, she's going to a Christian summer camp that instills some of these.  I just keep the education up.

Chase her.
Chase her even when she's yours.
That's the only way you'll be assured to never lose her.

But even those acts are at least brief and final, making them possibly more humane than our vaunted SuperMax.

so in other words, REWARD  this 'inhuman' animal for SLAUGHTERING 77 people. Let him live off others in solitary confinement for the rest of his life, getting a degree,  food, water, and a bed, all at the expense of the people he showed no compassion for nor any regret in killing  them

Here's  a question DUche; Where is the punishment  in that? It sounds like he is getting exactly what you want to force US to pay for everyone  here as well... Funny how  that is what is 'humane'.

I am a strong  believer in 'As ye reap, so shall you sew'. This man should have been put down like the wild dog he is.  If you are too squeamish to pull the trigger, I will GLADLY  volunteer, but someone else should REALLY do it.

Because you don't let someone else handle your mess, the person who should be pulling the trigger on the marathon bomber should be his 'mother'. I say 'mother', because obviously she FAILED as a parent. I think if something like that or parents are subjected to some of the same punishments that their minor 'children' are subjected to, juvenile crime would go down IMMENSELY.  Here's  why:

Quote

While a judge should be benevolent in purpose; his awards should cause the criminal to suffer, else there is no punishment - and pain is the basic mechanism built into us by millions of years of evolution which safeguards us by warning when something threatens our survival. Why should society refuse to use such a highly perfected survival mechanism?

If you can't understand that DUche, here is your 'major award':

“Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor, and the contrary opinion is wishful thinking at its worst. Breeds that forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and their freedoms”

“The best things in life are beyond money; their price is agony and sweat and devotion ... and the price demanded for the most precious of all things in life is life itself - ultimate cost for perfect value.”

Sounds really harsh until you look beyond the superficial and realize that in this "prison" he at:

Quote
The jail is spread over 75 acres of woodland just outside Oslo and facilities include a sound studio, jogging trails and a two-bedroom house separate from the main facility where convicts can stay with their families during overnight visits.

Guards move around the prison unarmed and often play sports or eat meals with the men they are tasked with watching. Half of the prison staff are women, a policy based on research which shows a female presence induces a less aggressive atmosphere.

Poor guy...in solitary confinement yet he's got a treadmill AND a laptop.

Cry me a friggin river.

Prisoners live in better conditions than most soldiers that live in military barracks.  if it were up to me..we'd still be housing prisoners in the shitty contidions out on Alcatraz island and the prison they filmed Shawshank Redemption at.

And before you wanna compare the fact this animal gets to go to college and our inmates don't chew on this:

Quote
Between 1972 and 1995 inmates who were not sentenced to death or life without parole could apply for Pell Grants and state funds such as New York’s Tuition Assistance Program to help offset the cost of prison education.

This fat f*ck should really do more than watch Beyond Scared Straight and Locked Up before he tries to come off as some kind of friggin expert on prisons in America.
