Dem judge orders psych counseling for D'Souza

NEW YORK – At a hearing Monday in Manhattan in which he ruled filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza must continue community service for four more years, U.S. District Judge Richard M. Berman said he considers D’Souza’s violation of federal campaign-finance laws to be evidence of a psychological problem and ordered further counseling.

D’Souza’s defense counsel Benjamin Brafman provided evidence to the court that the psychiatrist D’Souza was ordered to see found no indication of depression or reason for medication. In addition, the psychologist D’Souza subsequently consulted provided a written statement concluding there was no need to continue the consultation, because D’Souza was psychologically normal and well adjusted.

There are people who have done much worse, yet Dinesh D'Souza gets in trouble. Really scary!

Fair enough, I consider his excellent documentaries a community service.

The idea of Orwellian thought crimes legitimized from the bench.  I wonder how many other people who over-donated to political campaigns were sentenced to re-education, er, excuse me, therapy?

That's an honest question, I have no idea how to even begin looking for such data.

The order of further "counseling" is a means of increasing D'Souza's "punishment", since it's money taken out of D'Souza's pocket. D'Souza needs to, if possible both petition to have this judge removed from his case and have the judge sanctioned based on inflicting "unusual punishment" by judicial fiat.
