Yes, I chose the term idolatry intentionally. But first, a little review of Exodus and American History is in order.
In Exodus, the nation of Israel was enslaved by Pharoah, and then were freed by God after the plague of the death of the firstborn. The Egyptians then tried to re-capture them, suffering the loss of their army in the Red Sea. The Jews then started wandering in the desert, stopping at Mount Sinai while Moses received the Ten Commandments. While he was receiving these, the remaining Jews made the golden calf named Baal, declaring it their God that brought them out of Egypt.
The American slave was held by Southern Democrats. They were freed after the bloodiest war in American history, and received citizenship due to the efforts of a Republican President and Republican Congress. Even after the war, the Democrats pursued the former slaves, attempting to intimidate and/or re-enslave them, even forming their own "military", the KKK. A century after the war, a prominent (Republican) leader for the African community was leading them to "the promised land" of equality. He was murdered, and the leader of the Southern Democrats, who had been trying to re-enslave them for a century, offered them an easier life. He would provide for them, knowing that "those ******s would be voting Democrat for the next two hundred years", despite the fact that Democrats had enslaved them, fought a war to keep them enslaved, used terrorism and violence to keep them unequal, and voted against the legislation that would make them legal. Because LBJ was President, the African-American community worship the false god Democrat in the form of a golden jackass. And don't realize that their false god led them back to Egypt. The only difference is the new Pharoah doesn't make them make bricks without providing straw. In fact, Pharoah doesn't make them do much of anything, as long as they vote the right way...
