Star Member LynneSin (93,453 posts)I watched '50 Shades of Gray' so you don't have toI was going to visit family this weekend but a relative passed away so some of them were going to the funeral but that was too long of a drive for me.So as a whim I rented the movie. I will admit I did read the first book, which I found awfully written. So I rented the movie from Redbox. I didn't even waste the extra money on the Blu-Ray.First wasn't Christian Grey suppose to have red hair and blue eyes? That was a huge change. The movie was so wretched acted that I spent the first 30 minutes playing Beleaguered Castle Solitaire on my IPad then I think I soon fell asleep. I woke up in the last 15 minutes which he did something that would be considered domestic violence but since he's a billionaire I think we gals are supposed to like it. I found about erotic as scrubbing out my cat's litter box after I had ignored it for 3-4 days. Now that I'm wide awake I can watch 'Still Alice' with Oscar winner Julianne Moore.
If the book was terrible, what made you think the movie would be any better?
50 Shades of Grey, for those of you who avoid entertainment for women, is a movie based on a book that women have found very usefulNotice how she disregards the movie but makes sure to let the other DUmmies know she watched it. Bullshit - she wolfed down a half gallon of mellorine and strummed her banjo harder than Earl Scruggs.
There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site
I'd have to agree with the dummies on this one. Useless trash of course I haven't read the book or seem the movie but from what I can tell it's a modern day Harlequin romance...no thanks. I get a chuckle out of the many self avowed feminist sympathizers who get all a twitter over the rich man, average woman BDSM scenarios. So funny. That said what struck me is the total flippant ho hum attitude towards the memorial service for an aged relative. Damn. Some people might think this funeral is a real pita but who comes out and pretty much says it.
