primitives discuss their value as customers

Oh my.

Caution: this is an ancient thread.  But to be honest, the rabid Bernies have chased away so many prime primitives that the material just isn't there like it used to be, and so one occasionally has to resort to old stuff.  Sorry.

How valuable are you as a customer?

I've been going to the local convenience store almost everyday for a couple of years buying morning coffee sometimes a muffin, quart of milk, loaf of bread, lottery tickets, gas for my 2 cars.
On Monday as i only needed a coffee i brought exact change along, unbeknownst to me the price of a coffee went up 10 cents over the weekend so when i got to the cash i was 10 cents short, i said to the clerk i'll bring an extra dime tomorrow,to my astonishment he said no can do need the exact price...Really? .

Obviously if my being a customer isnt worth 10 cents he wont care that i've taken my $100+ per week business across the street.

Kind of a shame these days 10 cents is worth more than a regular customer..

2. That would hurt...

I am not sure how I would react. Here, I think someone would offer to pay the dime but I don't know if the clerk would have denied me in the first place. What did you say to the clerk after he said he needed the exact change?

3. I said

Really?, you gotta be kidding., i spend close to $120 a week here and you dont trust me for a dime till tomorrow?

Where upon he said my cash wont balance at the end of the day if i dont put in full price.

At this point i didnt want to debate further i asked for a smaller coffee and i left the store never to return.

I found it odd that he poured half of the large coffee into a smaller cup then threw out the rest of the large coffee along with the cup and the lid

Dummie fails to realize that if the clerk did that for 50 customers his drawer would come up short $5.00 and he would get fired.   Why do dummies hate convenience store clerks?

Something tells me the dummie has stiffed the clerk before.  Probably an unpleasant asshole as well.  Dummies always wanting someone else to pay the freight.

Not to mention the clerk probably makes min wage and that 5 dollars represents 5/7 of an hour he works if he takes it out of his own pocket.  Dummies always taking money out of the working person's pocket.  And yes dummie, they do count the cups.  Next time bring your own cup and I bet the clerk would let you slide.

Aside from places that take EBT cards, and except for a couple of trophy wives, slumlords, and failure-to-launch kids with big allowances, the DUmmies represent negative value as customers...they are that 10% that takes 90% of the time and trouble.

Someone should tell this DUmbass that he should worry about his value as a human being, which is a very large negative number, before worrying about his value as a customer.

Weird...I had almost the exact same thing happen to me today. There's a chain of convenience stores that sells fountain drinks for $.79 ($.85 with tax). I took $.85 cents in with me, and bought a drink. The young lady asked me for $.95. I said, I thought they were.85. She said that they had gone up. When I offered to go out to the truck to get the other dime, she told me not to worry about it. I do frequent that store a good bit, though.

Tell me about it. The local convenience store is the cheapest place to get a carton of cigarettes in town.

One wonders why it evolved that way.

It didn't used to be like that, when cigarettes were forty cents a package.

There are a half a dozen tobacco/cigarette shops around, but they all charge more per pack or carton than the convenient stores.   Those tobacco shops are the only places that carry a decent selection of Zippo lighters, though, so I do visit them once a year or so.

A couple of things:
1. The DUmmie could not dig a dime out of somewhere, not even the spare change cup at the register?
2. The Dummie is willing to get someone fired because he is too cheap to pay full price.
3. The DUmmie expects special treatment because of their patronage of the store. A normal person does not expect that but appreciates it when it does happen.

And who would seriously walk around with the exact change to buy a cup of coffee? Did the already dig through the sofa cushions to find their carefully hoarded cash?

I think there is close to $10 in the change holder in our car.

Agreed.  I have been shy a dime in more than one place like that and have NEVER been told to take a hike.

As for the cash drawer being short -- a few dollars is normal so long as it is +/- over time.

Who buys a loaf of bread at a convenience store?  It will cost twice+ what it is in the supermarket.  Especially if you buy one more than once every few weeks.

It depends on which convenience store and what specials. The Kwik Trip chain in WI have good prices on food (bread, eggs, meat, milk, etc) while junk food is priced at what you would expect.
