Let's see ...
Takei's humorous quips of various kinds are frequent fare in FacebookLand. How many are his and how many are from ghost writers is uncertain, but I suspect many are. OTOH, I'm not aware of much he's done there in Hollyweird, so he may really have that much time on his hands.
Takei recently informed "People" magazine or some similar celeb-centered outlet that he was POed at Shatner for not attending his "wedding". So I suppose Shatner is trying to mend some fences as well as being a standard-issue Hollyweird mouther-off.
Takei's "apology" doesn't really communicate any meaning. It basically means, "My thinking of Clarence Thomas hasn't changed, I just shouldn't have expressed it so clearly in public.
Takei is a standard-issue homosexual narcissist. He can't handle the thought that some one could disagree with him and refuse to affirm his lifestyle yet be a decent, honest, human being.
