Did The Four Dissenting Justices In Gay Marriage Case Just Suggest Treason?

The conservative justices’ incendiary dissents in Obergefell are a shocking betrayal of judicial responsibility
In controversial cases, is the role of jurist to inflame controversy, or quell it?

In Loving v. Virginia, the 1967 case which found race-based marriage bands unconstitutional, Chief Justice Earl Warren built a 9-0 consensus—just as he’d done years earlier in Brown vs. Board of Education. He knew that a country divided by race ought to be united, if possible, by a Supreme Court mindful of fundamental values—even if the Court was, as the constitution requires, overturning the will of the majority.

The four dissents in the landmark case on same-sex marriage, Obergefell v. Hodges, one by each of the conservative justices on today’s Supreme Court, take a very different view. With invective and hyperbole, they pour fuel on the fire of the controversy over same-sex marriage. Rather than merely state their views and disagreements, they use heated language to accuse the five-person majority of imperialism, a “putsch,” and worse.

Thus, the unprecedented calls of elected officials for open revolt against the Supreme Court—a shocking display of treason—are now accompanied by calls from within the Court itself that Obergefell is illegitimate, and the Supreme Court itself no longer worthy of full respect.

Ironically, in alleging a new low for the Court, these four justices have brought one into being. Justice Scalia has, as usual, grabbed the spotlight with juvenile taunting usually reserved for the playground. But in fact, all four opinions are shocking.

1. If they truly believed that the Court was vile and undignified, they'd resign.

Does anyone see them handing over their resignations from this supposedly tyrannical, corrupt court?

No? No takers on that one?

Yeah, I thought so.

I'm looking forward to the primitives response to the dissenting judges once Nationwide Concealed Carry comes up - several groups have already announced their intent to pursue this using the Gay marriage ruling as precedent.

I have to say, I didn't see very much of this coming.
I saw the perverts and degenerates campaigning for legitimacy.
But I didn't foresee them ever attaining it.
Then, once they have established their deviant lifestyle as somewhat legitimate, I was blind to what would come next.
Now they are struggling for virtual supremacy.
Along the way, the depraved zealots have been successful at silencing opposition.
While they're at it, they want opposition criminalized and ostracized.
It seems like there is no one to say, they have gone much to far.
Instead of campaigning for glow bull warming, the Catholic Church, and all Christian churches should be in the forefront of speaking out against gay tyranny.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

Supreme Court Justices were once chosen because they were educated. Now they're selected because they're opinionated.

But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

Good!  And when it wins, hopefully we'll have the grace to cite this ruling.

It won't win.

If you think any of this will ever be decided on legal merits and precedence you are painfully deluded.

Yeah, I thought so.

Stupid butt hole.  The leftists expect conservative senior citizens that think the federal government is out of control to decline their social security checks.  Now they want the justices who are doing their jobs by the book to surrender total control of the court to the partisan hack leftists.

I expect all the good-for-nothing primitives to hand over their EBT cards in protest when a Republican takes Barry's place in the White House.

Any takers on that one?

We'll see.

Dissent = Treason?

Apply that "reasoning" to Dredd Scott!

Apply that "reasoning" to Plessy vs, Ferguson!

Or maybe think, a little, about the implications your "reasoning" if applied consistently.

The churches are more worried about having more members and being liked, which is too common today. We need respect, not liked. Too much turn the other cheek. I made a post related to it.

FDR was going to appoint 5 additional Justices to pack the court to push his unconstitutional bull shit through.  Instead "the switch in time to save the nine" occurred, and the Justices misused the commerce clause to fundamentally transform the federal government.
