Obama Making Bid to Deversify Wealthy Neighborhoods
« on: June 14, 2015, 07:50:41 AM »
One of the reasons we have families entrapped in "hardscrabble neighborhoods" is the implementation of LBJ's "Great Society". In addition Barry's policies aimed at transforming America have only added to the further decay of our cities, neighborhoods and our country. This will do nothing more than create more racial tension, and ultimately perhaps re-arrange the demographics of the voting districts.

Obama making bid to diversify wealthy neighborhoods

The Obama administration is moving forward with regulations designed to help diversify America’s wealthier neighborhoods, drawing fire from critics who decry the proposal as executive overreach in search of an “unrealistic utopia.”

A final Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) rule due out this month is aimed at ending decades of deep-rooted segregation around the country.

The regulations would use grant money as an incentive for communities to build affordable housing in more affluent areas while also taking steps to upgrade poorer areas with better schools, parks, libraries, grocery stores and transportation routes as part of a gentrification of those communities.

“HUD is working with communities across the country to fulfill the promise of equal opportunity for all,” a HUD spokeswoman said. “The proposed policy seeks to break down barriers to access to opportunity in communities supported by HUD funds.”

It’s a tough sell for some conservatives. Among them is Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.), who argued that the administration “shouldn’t be holding hostage grant monies aimed at community improvement based on its unrealistic utopian ideas of what every community should resemble.”

“American citizens and communities should be free to choose where they would like to live and not be subject to federal neighborhood engineering at the behest of an overreaching federal government,” said Gosar, who is leading an effort in the House to block the regulations.

Civil rights advocates, meanwhile, are praising the plan, arguing that it is needed to break through decades-old barriers that keep poor and minority families trapped in hardscrabble neighborhoods...

I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed, a democracy in a republic, a sovereign Nation of many sovereign States; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes. I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies.

My opinion, alas, is one of hypocrisy & cynicism.

From O's side:
Replace the word "diversity" with "destroy".  I suppose the Cloward-Piven strategy isn't going quickly enough to suit the King.  Hey, HUD, just don't mess with any oligarch's neighborhood.  & even if the meekly rinos attempt legislation, not to worry, I'm a true pen & phone president armed with multiple political agencies waiting to do my bidding.

From the rinos side:
Well, this may upset the elite class, so lets throw them a bone.  So we'll pass Gosar's amendment to HUD's funding (it passed June 9th, 229-193).  Even if it passes the Senate, our executive order President will take care of the rest.

"...once finalized, the AFFH rule would be one of the most radical and transformative actions ever taken by the Obama administration. AFFH repudiates the core principles of our constitutional system by allowing the federal government to effectively usurp the zoning powers of local governments. Over time, AFFH would transform the way Americans live, urbanizing suburbs and Manhattanizing cities."

Many years ago I grew up in a "diversified" slum area.  Several neighborhoods away public housing projects were getting started.  Initially, so nice they looked with their attached back yards.  I would walk past them & yes, feel envy, since our street was so trashy & run down.  But after around a year, these projects looked worse than our neighborhood.  Liberalism.  When it doesn't work the 1st hundred times, keep trying it until it doesn't work again.

This is the same shit HUD did during the Clinton administration. Close housing projects, relocate the tenants to dispersed housing through vouchers and home loan subsidies, and prosecute landlords and mortgage lenders for refusing to accept them.

It worked so well then, why not try it again!

You can put all the "special housing" projects you want to diversify a neighborhood, but you cannot change the people who will dwell in those houses UNLESS you do something to change their lives with sustainable jobs and a desire to support themselves.  Having lived in the Detroit area for over 30 years, Detroit is a prime example.  Millions of dollars was spent on improving low income neighborhoods and schools and a few years later those same neighborhoods and schools were run down.  The government would again build them back up only to have them torn down.  This was an ongoing cycle.  People living in these areas had no desire or incentive to take care of what was given to them as they knew they would always be given more without having to work for it. Through generations of living in this "cycle" those same people expected that the government would provide for them. Now that Detroit is bankrupt many neighborhoods have turned to rubble and a new group of people are moving in to rebuild on their own.
Sorry, grant money may be nice, but a lot of suburbs can run just fine without it.

Grant money ... as in the "government" will own the homes.

Grant money to upgrade THOSE neighborhoods are a giant waste.

Aluminum seats at the baseball fields.....gone in no time.
Houses built.....destroyed in short order.
New side walks.....covered in gang signs.
....and so on and so forth.

Many affluent neighborhoods are in the suburbs.  Obama simply doesn't like them.  He prefers overcrowded cities.
