How long has it been
« on: June 10, 2015, 04:27:29 PM »

since we heard words like these from a President of The United States?

Quote
“To those neighbors and allies who share our freedom, we will strengthen our historic ties and assure them of our support and firm commitment. We will match loyalty with loyalty. We will strive for mutually beneficial relations. We will not use our friendship to impose on their sovereignty, for our own sovereignty is not for sale.

As for the enemies of freedom, those who are potential adversaries, they will be reminded that peace is the highest aspiration of the American people. We will negotiate for it, sacrifice for it; we will not surrender for it, now or ever.”

Know who those were spoken by?

Ronald Reagan in 1981.

Great President!  But as in all of us, imperfect.  In 1986 he passed the Immigration reform & Control Act, & granted amnesty to 7 million.  Small fry compared to what O is doing now.

...hmmm... I thought it was about 2 million, but at any rate though, what to me is astonishing is that it was supposed to primarily keep employers from knowingly hiring illegals which obviously didn't happen. Since then we've had the Secure Fence Act, which was passed by both Houses of Congress ... but obviously didn't happen.  We had attempts at bits and pieces of legislation aimed at doing virtually the same things and here we are almost 30 years later (Bush Sr., Clinton's two terms, Bush Jr.'s two terms and Obama's two terms), and we now have an illegal immigration problem that is out of control.

We need to secure the borders period.  Fence, drones, land mines whatever it takes.  NO AMNESTY!!!  Amnesty is just like liberalism; it didn't work in the past, and won't work in the future!
I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed, a democracy in a republic, a sovereign Nation of many sovereign States; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes. I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies.
