Cool! I think we'll give it a few more days so the crowds thin out.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

I watched it here at home last nite and wow, even on a TV it was fantastic! Christian Bale was teriffic as Batman but Heath Ledger stole the show as the Joker. I would have to say this is the best Batman movie so far by a wide margin. Some people might say it is too dark but that is the main precept of Batman from the beginning. I highly recommend this movie.

I think I'll give it a few more weeks.  I waited two or three weeks to see 'Transformers', and it was still packed.

I requested Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns" from the liberry.  I've never been a comic book fan, but this one looks interesting.

It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

Actually I think the hype about his tremendous performance was/is just a wee bit over hyped. His performance was good ,not great in that it surpassed any of the others act or made the movies.

I think Ledger's joker was way better than Jack Nicholsons.

I haven't seen the movie yet but I read Ledger was comparable to Jack's performence in The Shining. That true to you? Better? Worse?

Agreed. I was expecting an excellent performance from Christian Bale and had heard that Ledger did himself well. But the reality was still quite a nice surprise. He was a great Joker.

I haven't seen the movie yet but I read Ledger was comparable to Jack's performence in The Shining. That true to you? Better? Worse?

Heath Ledger made Jack Nicholson's Joker look SANE!  Heath brought an intense level of manic insanity to the character that was simply terrifying.  Perhaps though, that was partly do to the much darker script for this film.  IMHO though, he not only lived up to the overwhelming hype of his performance, but surpassed it in this film.  As for if his performance of the Joker or Jack's in performance in The Shining was more insanely brilliant.... I'd lean towards Jack's... but if I see this film a few more times... I might question that  :o

I had also compared Ledgers performance to Nicholsons as the Joker and found Nicholson lacking. Dont get me wrong, I am a life long fan of Jack Nicholson and think the 'The Shining' will be deemed his magnum opus. But he was locked withing the constraints of the particular Batman movie he played in. If unleashed I have no doubt that Jack Nicholson could do much better. Think back to him in 'The Departed'. Awesomely insane psychopathic performance. Heath Ledger as the Joker seemed to want people to understand him. To understand his motivations. Not that he cared if they approved or not. If he is lucky he will be remembered for this excellent role rather than as a gay cowboy.
