A lone republican pushing against O's agenda.  Finally!

Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) "is pressuring House GOP leadership, particularly Majority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA); (McCarthy was the rino chosen by Boehner to replace Cantor's position) to delay plans to muscle Obamatrade through the House of Representatives quickly.

Rep. Hunter:

“I write to you today to request that you delay any vote on fast-track authority for the Executive until the President has made public all text and information pertaining to the new economic union known as the Trans-Pacific Partnership Commission, as well the ‘Living Agreement’ authority.  My concern is that this allows the President and the members of the union to change the agreement and its membership following adoption.”

â€œThe new Commission would be a self-governing, continuing body authorized to issue policies and regulations affecting our economy, our manufacturers, our workers, our immigration procedures, as well currency, labor and environmental practices."

â€œIt is one thing to enhance executive authority with respect to a narrow set of trade policies, it is another to fast-track the creation of a new international structure before a single detail about that structure has been made available to the public.”

â€œAfter all, fast-track would give the President a guarantee than any international agreement he reaches can be ratified without subsequent Congressional input. TPP is just the first of several.”

"In the case of TPP, to approve fast-track would be to authorize the President to finalize this new Commission before we even know its authority and reach. Fast-track would also guarantee the President – and his foreign negotiating partners – ratification of this international Commission without the Constitutional treaty vote or even a Senate cloture vote. Shouldn’t we know the details of this new economic union before – not after – we have surrendered our ability to revise it, rewrite it, or regard it as a treaty?"

“The American people are understandably concerned about the loss of sovereignty under this Administration."

At this time, McCarthy's office has not responded to Hunter's letter.  Mike Long, McCarthy's spokesman, hasn't answered if McCarthy went to the secret room to read the Obamatrade bill.

Just a thought:  How in the world did this Congress become so royal?  A majority leader gets a taxpayer salaried spokesman?  What, we're too low for the majority leader to speak directly to the public?

Did we ever think rinos, as bad as they are, would be as non-transparent as O?

Boehner must be getting a little nervous.  He wants to vote for Obamatrade on Friday, but "They’re trying to resolve a last-minute hangup over aid for workers who lose their jobs to free trade."

They have this desperation about them wanting to pass it, like its such an emergency.  Reminds me of McCain, temporarily calling off his Presidential campaign to run back to Washington because TARP had to be passed.

Rino Ryan:   â€œWe’re doing very well, we’re close."

"Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) has been holding small meetings with lawmakers in his office as he seeks to maximize Republican “yes” votes — and he huddled late Tuesday with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to address some unresolved spending and procedural issues."

Transparency, what's that?  "House Republicans will hold a closed-door meeting on Wednesday morning at which the trade vote is expected to be a major topic of conversation."

"Behind the scenes, Boehner and Ryan are consulting with Pelosi, the White House and other senior Democrats to avoid capping Medicare spending to pay for financial assistance to workers who lose their jobs to free trade, aid formally known as Trade Adjustment Assistance."

Yikes!  Now its reminding me of the Christmas eve Obamacare vote.

It's becoming clearer to me why Obama & his rinos are so desperate to pass fast-track & Obamatrade ASAP & to keep it hidden from the rest of us until its passed in the House.  It is also known that liberal Dems & rinos support an open border to mass immigration.

"Discovered inside the huge tranche of secretive Obamatrade documents released by Wikileaks are key details on how technically any Republican voting for Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) that would fast-track trade deals like the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal would technically also be voting to massively expand President Obama’s executive authority when it comes to immigration matters."

"The president’s Trade in Services Act (TiSA) documents, which is one of the three different close-to-completely-negotiated deals that would be fast-tracked making up the president’s trade agreement, show Obamatrade in fact unilaterally alters current U.S. immigration law. TiSA, like TPP or the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T-TIP) deals, are international trade agreements that President Obama is trying to force through to final approval. The way he can do so is by getting Congress to give him fast-track authority through TPA."

"Roughly 10 pages of this TiSA agreement document leak are specifically about immigration."

Rosemary Jenks, @ Numbers USA:  “The existence of these ten pages on immigration in the Trade and Services Agreement make it absolutely clear in my mind that the administration is negotiating immigration – and for them to say they are not – they have a lot of explaining to do based on the actual text in this agreement."

Of course we all have our different issues of what's important politically.  I readily accept that.    But I was wondering am I alone in thinking that this is the most important issue of the day?  So I decided to randomly check out 2 sites last evening.

1.  Hotair:  Not one mention of Obamatrade

2.  National Review:  1 article by George Will in support of the trade deal:  "...Republicans who oppose TPA are collaborating with those who oppose increasing the velocity and rationality of economic life."

But the comments speak otherwise.  Here's one:

"So, the most "sophisticated" commentator is showing off his sophistry by reducing a secret, multiple thousand page, international trade agreement prepared by over a dozen countries to one issue: union opposition? I notice he wears glasses but can he still read? There are literally dozens of alleged provisions being widely reported through Wikileaks which should concern all Americans, if true. But as does Pelosi, so the Republican establishment and Mr. Will. "We must pass the bill to learn what is in it?" If you are a parent, imagine your child coming in and saying "I need money, which I must spend before I can tell you will why I need it", or, "I need your permission before I can tell you what you are permitting?" If we want to be treated like idiots, we need only keep letting the beltway crowd do what they are now doing."

Paul Ryan has apparently learned from the best:

"Chief Obamatrade proponent House Ways and Means Committee chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) admitted during Congressional testimony on Wednesday evening that despite tons of claims from him and other Obamatrade supporters to the contrary, the process is highly secretive."

"He also made a gaffe in his House Rules Committee testimony on par with former Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi's (D-CA)
push to pass Obamacare, in which she said infamously said: “we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.”

“It’s declassified and made public once it’s agreed to." Ryan said of Obamatrade in Rules Committee testimony on Wednesday during questioning from Rep. Michael Burgess (R-TX).

There's dissent in Europe, & some leaders are listening.

"European Parliament’s plans to vote and debate on the “shady” Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership deal with the United States had been thrown into disarray on the back of major public backlash."

"A Conservative spokesman in Strasbourg told Breibart London: “On the debate – call us old fashioned but we think it’s best to know what a report says before we debate it. This report is now back with committee and we don’t know what will come back to plenary.  So we voted to have the debate just before the vote, when that comes, when the issues will still be fresh in MEPs’ minds as they decide.”

Nigel Farage, MEP and leader of UKIP:

“In my 17 years as an MEP I’ve never received so much communication from the public on a proposed piece of legislation. The TTIP has concerned millions of people across the European Union. They have bombarded their MEPs with phone calls, letters and emails and in response to this the EU is now running scared.”

"They’ve got the wind up, particularly the left, who have been supporting TTIP from the start and finally have been exposed as backing large scale global corporatism.”

"GOP leadership's latest Obamatrade ploy revealed:  small business tax hike that violates GOP's anti-tax pledge."

TAA is the "welfare" part of the trade deal; funding for displaced workers who lost their jobs due to international trade.

But where's the money coming from?  Originally it was going to come from Medicare cuts.  "But under pressure, Republican leadership, mainly Boehner and Ryan, negotiated with Democrats to remove the Medicare cuts from the financial backing of TAA and instead using direct tax hikes by raising the penalties for misfiled taxes."

Curtis Ellis, founder of the Obamatrade.com:

“A vote for Obamatrade on Tuesday is a vote to give the IRS more power and more incentives to go after small businesses."

â€œIt’s outrageous that Republicans who complain all the time – rightfully so – about the IRS’s overreach and over burdening small business are actually increasing the incentive for the IRS to spy on people – to spy on small businesses."

"It is the height of cynicism for Congress to plan on paying for a welfare program for unions by increasing the penalties for small businesses."

Latest news, thought we'd get a reprieve until the end of July.
Not so.
All those nasty rinos are looking into procedural ways so the King gets his TPA.
Procedural rules, why is that reminiscent of the reconciliation that got us Obamacare?

"House Republican leaders are mulling their options for forcing a vote on Trade Promotion Authority while saving reconsideration of Trade Adjustment Assistance for another day."

"The Rules Committee could meet this week to establish parameters for floor consideration of TPA that, if approved, clears the way for President Barack Obama to negotiate a 12-nation Pacific trade deal."

"Sources close to conversations on both sides of the aisle confirmed to CQ Roll Call late Tuesday afternoon that the current strategy being discussed would involve bringing TPA up using a legislative vehicle that has already been passed by the House and amended by the Senate."

"This maneuver, which has been used for other bills in the past, would allow the Senate, upon House passage, to consider the measure with a minimum number of procedural hurdles."

http://www3.blogs.rollcall.com/218/republicans-get-obama-trade-promotion-authority/

Just a reminder who the rinos are fighting for:

"Corporate lobbyists have convinced legislators of both parties that America needs more guest workers in high-tech jobs. Leading the charge in Congress to do their bidding is Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch, who has introduced legislation to double or triple the number of non-immigrant tech workers who can be hired annually on H-1B visas."

"Many of the workers laid off at Disney and SCE earned $100,000 a year or more. Government data indicate the H-1B workers replacing them earn around $60,000."

Vote tomorrow.
America loses.
Rinos & lobbyists win.

Boehner & McConnell in a duo:  “We are committed to ensuring both TPA and TAA get votes in the House and Senate and are sent to the president for signature."

TAA is welfare, pure & simple, & it'll raise taxes on small businesses. The GOP promised the Dems to bring it up in a separate bill.  TPA is fast-track to bestow the King with heightened powers & further global governance.  I feel overwhelmingly defeated, as I sure many non-liberal Americans must feel.  There is really nothing else we can do.
