Americans 'overreacted' to 9/11 terror attacks because they're not as resilient as Brits, says Oxford University's first female vice-chancellor

Americans ‘overreacted’ to the 9/11 attacks, according to the newly appointed first female vice-chancellor of Oxford University.

Terrorism expert Professor Louise Richardson said the 2001 atrocity provoked such a response because violent extremism was a ‘new experience’ in the US.

Widespread panic ensued in America after al-Qaeda hijacked four passenger airliners and flew them into buildings, causing almost 3,000 deaths.

America underreacted to 9/11. Typical leftist academia stupidity.  :mental: :bird:

The Brits were nearly pulverized at home from a constant rain of V-1s and V-2s.
I do have to give them credit for keeping a stiff upper lip.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

Well in that case Madam let me say to you that your country UNDER reacted in the face of the threat of radical Islam and paved the way for the subway bombings in 2005.

Your country sw the threat and chose to ignore it...hoping it would go away.

We've been dealing with violent extremeism in that part of the world since you were in your nappies.

Your country would be forced to shout Sieg Heil right now thanks to Chamberlain's response to the threat of "violent extremeism" if it wasn't for the stubborness of Churchill and the U.S. coming to your aid.

Bugger off you usless twit.  All your education and not an ounce of common sense.

What a crock of crap! Overreacted?  Britain honored the U.S. 9-11 tragedy by playing the "Star Spangled Banner" at Buckingham Palace a few days later and many Britains mourned along with us on that day.  Britain joined with us against the war on terror.  It wasn't until Barry took the helm that relations with Britain and for that fact the rest of the world started to deteriorate.
I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed, a democracy in a republic, a sovereign Nation of many sovereign States; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes. I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies.

She's really no different than the American talking heads and so called "intellectuals" that said pretty much the same thing while they were still recovering bodies from ground zero.

Remember the idiots that said we needed to have a conference to find out why they hate us and that we shouldn't over react i.e. bomb the shit out of the Taliban?

Overreacted?

Perhaps with some features of the Patriot act & NSA spying.

Yes, overreacted because now muslims are a protected class.  Darn, you couldn't even mention Obama's middle name when he was running in '08.  Now we have foot baths in airports.  The TSA gets to feel good about their job with children & grandmothers.  They can choose to further scrutinize a caucasian vs. the habib.

Bottom line:  we lost some freedoms & muslims became a strong lobbying group.

But on the bright side, we got DHS and TSA out of the deal.
And by bright I mean extra constitutional and a total waste.
But in all honesty, they both give corporate pilots a measure of job security.

I would have rather have had the Mecca Memorial Glass Company.
