I see that Buzzy has chimed in and, like a good troll, seeks to completely derail/ divert the topic.
" The feeling of insulation gives some of you people the impression that you can spew hateful yet heartfelt utterances and be left unaccountable."
You people? What do you mean, "You people"? Bigot.
"Muzzies, homos, and amoral, cowardly liberals. The trifecta."
Aww, baby need a bottle? Any name calling you see here is nothing compared to the name calling the DUmmies regularly spew against Christians ("Fundies," "Jesus nuts," "Xians," etc.), Republicans ("Rethugs," "Repugs," "Republikkkans," "Fascists," "Nazis," "Terrorists," "Rednecks," etc.), black conservatives ("Uncle Toms/ Aunt Jemimas," "Race traitors," "House ni@@ers," "Oreos," etc.), and any other group that disagrees with their views.
"By the way, the closest thing you'll get to a consensus about this from the left is that any organized religion that hides behind its dogma to justify hate really, really sucks. It doesn't matter what religion that might be."
Is that why there have been, among other things, numerous DU threads about how all Christian churches need to be stripped of their tax- exempt status on the basis that some churches have people in them who say things that gays might find offensive, yet I've never seen a single DU thread suggesting similar punishments for Muslim mosques that openly preach hatred against gays, Jews, Christians, America, etc.?
btw, as others have noticed, the Bill Maher types on the DUmp and among the Left in general just love openly spreading hate against Christians for petty reasons, yet are reluctant to say anything remotely negative about Muslims. Even with Muslim terrorists who kill people, the Left either hems and haws about being "Conflicted" and hesitating to condemn their actions, or actually portrays the terrorists as brave and noble heroes standing up to evil Western imperialism and Islamophobia or some crap like that. Case in point: The way much of the Left (Including many DUmmies) has been portraying the Boston Marathon bombers.
" You see, what differentiates this from the Memories Pizza incident is that the state government of Indiana had just passed a law making discrimination legal if you could drum up some religious reason for it -- I guess the preference would be a Christian motivation, but that wasn't clear."
No, what differentiates this from the Memories Pizza incident is that the Memories Pizza incident was just one person there expressing their opinion on an issue in a peaceful, nonviolent way, answering a question from a meddling journalist who was almost certainly attempting to bait them and accuse everyone connected to the pizza place of homophobia. In plain English, one incident was a person expressing an opinion, the other was groups of people openly getting violent. The DUmmies and leftists in general, however, pretty much completely ignore the violent attacks committed by Muslim extremists, instead focusing on spewing venom against a peaceful Christian just expressing an opinion.
"At the moment, the Muslims are not passing laws in the US legalizing this behavior."
Look to England, which lately has been acting as a "Canary in the coalmine" early warning system as to what will happen in the US if we keep bending over backwards to appease radical Muslims out of fear of being accused of racism if we don't, the way the Brits have been doing: Several neighborhoods in London and elsewhere have been designated "Muslim- only areas," and Muslim activists have been petitioning the British governments to allow those areas to be governed from within by Sharia law.
Now, to get slightly back on topic:
"It's a bit simpler than that, especially item 1.
1. Gays and Muslims are both "victim" classes. Libs & Progs don't know how to handle two "victim" groups coming into conflict. Nor can they handle the idea that "victims" can in real life be oppressors.
2. Christian-hating Libs & Progs are cowardly. They know that no matter how much venom they spew, vandalism they do, or harassment they do, they risk no serious danger."
Good point about Item 1, SVPete, but your take on Item 2 is just a rewording of what I said.
