25. I was in the BRO from 2003 - 2006
I was the platoon leader of 2nd platoon, A company, 2-2 infantry battalion, 3 rd brigade. I was on Iraq from feb 2004 to March 2005.
My war was Iraq and I was a fool to believe our military was actually for making the world a better place. For my stupidity I've been rewarded with severe PTSD (rated at 100% permanent and total by the VA) and I've spent roughly 5 of the last 12 months locked up in a psych ward. I lost 5 Soldiers under my command and I hate every day that I've made it back alive and they didn't.
So let's see; this oxygen thieving DUche claims that he was in 1ID as a PLATOON LEADER from 2003-2006.
First off, since he didn't mention any follow on service, I'll assume he got out at 3 years. That would be par for the course for a DUche, since most of them are so weak they would never be able to fulfill their obligations.
For officers after college, I believe there is a six year commitment. Which means our special little snowflake here got out WAY before he was supposed to. Not common, but it happens.
Second, he said he was there from 2003-2006. So a 1LT getting out at TBD height of the surge? That doesn't smell right to me. The army was looking for every able bodied man they could at that point.
Which leads me to my third point; the PTSD. Officers are some of the most thoroughly screened individuals on the planet. They have to be to be stable under immense pressure. Do a few slip through the cracks? Yes, but less than you'd think.
Officers don't do the fighting directly. That's what they have their soldiers for. If they are shooting, its the Khrorengal valley, or Custer's last stand-type situation. The latter sounding like what our young DUche PL might have caused.
He might have led his men to a disastrous situation that his platoon sergeant had to bail him out of, and he got PTSD from being rescued from his mistakes, and didn't LEARN from them like a real man does.
In summation, this DUche may have served, may have been a PL. But I SEVERELY doubt it. And if he did, i believe he was chaptered out at a time when the army NEEDED people. That says something about him and the quality of his character.
