Woman Pleads To Sex Attack On Sleeping Man

MAY 15--The Seattle woman charged with raping a man while he slept has pleaded guilty to the attack and will serve nine months in jail and be required to register as a sex offender, according to court records.

In a deal with prosecutors, Chantae Gilman copped Wednesday to attempted rape and assault, both felonies. Gilman, 28, was originally charged with rape, but an amended criminal information reduced that count.

Gilman, pictured above, is scheduled to be sentenced on June 19. In addition to jail time and registering as a sex offender, Gilman’s plea deal requires her to serve two years probation upon release from custody and it forbids her from contacting the 32-year-old victim (who is only identified by his initials, “M.O.,” in court papers).

In statements included as part of the plea deal, Gilman acknowledged that she “made a substantial step to have sexual intercourse with M.O.” and that the victim “did not consent to the sexual contact” since he “was asleep and unable to consent” during the June 2013 attack inside his Seattle apartment

According to a Seattle Police Department report, “M.O.” told cops that he did not know Gilman, but said that she was an acquaintance of a man who lived in his duplex.

I think that picture of her is an old one. In the article it states that she was 240 pounds pregnant with her third child.
