Anyone ever had their Gallbladder removed

Just wondering what to expect.

Yeah, I had mine out in 2000. The duct apparently got blocked in that the gall bladder was full of stones, and I began to get jaundiced. Went to the ER in severe pain and they wasted no time getting me in a room.

The next day, they knocked me out and ran a scope down into my gut to see if they could remove the gall bladder laparoscopically. The answer came back yep, they could, so they did the procedure the following day, on a Tuesday. On Thursday, I was back to work.

If the gall bladder cannot be removed laparscopically, then it's a much more invasive procedure, with a longer recovery time.

BTW, I have had no requirement to adjust my diet as a result of being absent the gall bladder. I never missed it.

If you're headed for that surgery, best to you. After 15 years since mine, I'm sure it's an even smoother procedure these days.

Had it done yesterday. Being physically sick for 5 hrs has my entire lower trunk sore as hell. On Fri they went with a scope looking around. Had to be knocked out for that. Removal was with 5 small incisions, in the manner you cited.

I'm sore as hell.

I still have mine.  My mother had hers removed over 20 years ago... it was practically an outpatient procedure at the time.

I'm on my 5th day in the hospital. I have drainage tubes sticking out from me. I'm sore as the Dickens.

Had mine removed several years ago on the Monday before Thanksgiving and was feeling up to eating (not cooking) Thanksgiving dinner. I did have to change my diet because I now have trouble with high fat meats like pork.

The laparoscopy involves inflating your abdomen to provide room for the incising instrument. The small incisions are where they input the air and/or the instrument that goes in to remove the gall bladder itself. You'll bounce back pretty quick. I was 43 at the time I had my surgery, so I was relatively young, but the laparoscopic procedure is the way to go if you have to have that kinda thing done. (I think they removed my appendix while they were in there, IIRC.)

I'm being booted out after 5 days. I get to take the overflow tubing as a momento. Unfortunately,  it's still attached.  Have to go to the surgeon on Tuesday for removal.

Yeah, you can hurt at home just as much as you can hurt in the hospital. LOL. I wish you a speedy recovery!

Wishing you a more speedy recovery than your 1st few days!
My Mother had her's out when I was a child.  It was such an extensive procedure back then.  She had several "gall bladder attacks" & there was so much relief after the surgery site healed.
Here's hoping you'll feel better after the soreness eases up.
