I'm not sure what she means when she says she covers "these things", we haven't had any riots at all, and the few #blacklivesmatters demonstrations have been ridiculously small and insignificant.

It sounds like gNads has been showing up at your local events in Kevlar and protective mask. Car shows and gamer conventions, May Day poetry slams for international socialism, rallies for illegal aliens who work at hotels, and city council meetings- a riot could break out any time and any place, and gNads is ready!

I wish I didn't know this shit.

Any chance you can take a picture of her?

The Hell the cousin won't venture where nobody else will.

There's things going on down in Ensenada, barely an hour's drive south and east of San Diego, but she's in the past said she's scared to go there.

Ensenada?  Disneyland South?  Where the cbayer primitive and her eccentric English husband dock their boat much of the time?

<<<would like to learn what's going on down in Ensenada, but the cousin's too chickenshit to go there, for whatever reasons I don't know.

Ok this was embarrasing

We are working on a story involving native people in Mexico. So I needed to send an Email to proceso, one of the top political magazines. It took me literally ten minutes to compose an email in Spanish... my native tongue.

So, the obvious thing is I NEED PRACTICE... damn I really do. So converted my IPOD to a Spanish computer and started plotting a short piece of fiction that will be done in Spanish. It will take me longer than English, but damn I need the practice. That was well, very embarrassing.

Ten minutes. Damn!

And that story better NOT involve going down to Ensenada, there are way too many personal safety concerns on that one.

^^^the cause of franksolich's curiosity about what's going on down in Ensenada.

After seeing this about three years ago, I e-mailed the tourism bureau in Ensenada, Mexico, inquiring what sort of place it is.  They kindly mailed me various brochures, a big thick bulky yellow envelope, crammed with all sorts of information about the city, encouraging franksolich to come down and visit some time, assuring me I'd have a good time.

And the cousin's afraid to go there?

"Ensenada.

Shit.  I'm still in Ensanada."

Well, it's her own fault.

She suggested something newsworthy was going on down in Ensenada.

And if something's going on, she as a professional journalist is supposed to go and check it out for her readers.  And it's reasonably close to where nadin lives.....and she knows the language and stuff, and so should be able to go about with ease and confidence, avoiding pitfalls and perils naïve franksolich might encounter.

I wouldn't have even given Ensenada a second thought in my entire life, if she hadn't suggested there's something newsworthy going on down there.

By the way, has anybody noticed the cousin no longer does "scanner duty"?

I miss it, as that was one of the most hilarious--and pointless--things nadin ever did.

For ****'s face, she must be going into the cone of danger!!!

Of course I hope you all realize that every single word in nadin's post is spelled correctly. Every one. That means that (a) someone else posted it for her or (b) one or more words are actually misspelled and/or left out. Since the punctuation errors match nadin's usual writing style I think it is (b) which means that it is our job to try and determine what she meant to say.

I think the below is a possibility with the bolded red correcting the errors.

I'm pretty sure those times she was doing "scanner duty," she was lounging on the couch, munching on chocolate bon-bons and watching television, and if her ears caught anything that sounded interesting on the scanner, she wrote the story from inside her own head.

Nutcase nadin in her helmet, gas mask, photog vest, combat boots, and Nomex is a funnier image than DUkakis riding that tank in 1988.

Some may recall a long-ago juvenile DUmmy, the cherubic Asher Heimermann, who was like a budding adolescent version of nutcase nadin.

He had all of her arrogance and self-adulation, but without her viciousness and contempt.

Well, Asher is "all growed up".

You may notice Asher is armed with a flashlight. He's also decked out with a patch and badge, both of which he designed himself as part of his one-man organization, Incidence Response of Wisconsin, a subsidiary of his other one-man organization, Wisconsin Public Safety.

Asher is the "superintendent" of the former, founder of the latter.

Superintendent Heimermann pulls scanner duty, running off to take photographs of car wrecks and fires.

There is such a strong parallel with nadin's "Reporting San Diego" fantasy I had to point it out.
