I'm recovering, but initially I was flabbergasted...

Quote

(CNSNews.com) - A Republican-controlled U.S. Senate voted to confirm an attorney general today who says that illegal aliens have a right to work in the United States but that partially born babies do not have a right to life.

The Senate took two votes on the nomination of Loretta Lynch: first, a "cloture" vote to end debate and allow a final vote on confirmation, and, then, the final vote itself.

Neither of these votes would have taken place had not Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell not brought her nomination to the floor for consideration.
(He caved)

Thanks to a change in the interpretation of Senate Rule XXII that he Democratic leadership pushed through in 2013, only 50 votes (as opposed the historical 60) was needed to invoke cloture and end debate on the nomination. In fact, 66 senators voted for cloture--including 19 Republicans.

Lynch, who has been serving as U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of New York, then won confirmation as attorney general of the United States by a vote of 56 to 43. Nine Senate Republicans voted to confirm her.

At a confirmation hearing in January, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R.-Ala.) asked Lynch: "Who has more right to a job in this country? A lawful immigrant who's here, a green-card holder, or a citizen, or a person who entered this country unlawfully?"

"Well, Senator," said Lynch, "I believe that the right and the obligation to work is one that's shared by everyone in this country regardless of how they came here.
And certainly, if someone's here, regardless of status, I would prefer that they be participating in the workplace than not participating in the workplace."

Under the laws of the United States, which as attorney general Lynch will be responsible for enforcing, foreign nationals illegally present in the United States are not permitted to work here.

In 2006, Lynch joined with a group of fellow former U.S. attorneys in signing an amicus brief submitted to the Supreme Court in the case of Gonzales v. Carhart, which sought to overturn the law that Congress enacted in 2003 that bans partial-birth abortion in the United States.

The republicans don't deserve to be in the majority.  They are no better than the democrats when it comes to representing conservatives.

Ya'll think Lynch will be to the left of Holder....if that's possible.  She'll be investigating the Baltimore police department.

I'm probably being repetitive, but McCain voted no for Lynch.  I surmise he was left off the hook so he gear up for his 2016 re-election.  Yep, once again, watch him go down to the border & say how much we need to secure them....& sadly, the Arizonians will believe him once again.  But the let-down happens to us all.  Who would have thought that McConnell would have shown his progressive side so quickly by raising the debt limit without a single argument, supporting O's amnesty & pushing for fast-tracking TPP, which the latter will be good for cheap labor & undercut American jobs.  & who can forget Boehner bo-hooing when the R's took the house, & "I get it."  He not only didn't put a damper on Obamacare, he made sure it was funded.
It's a one party system & I'm feeling the hopelessness.

In the news again.
My premise is when both parties work together to promote the liberal agenda, its never good for the rest of us.
McConnell showed this quickly when he took control of the Senate, & rushed to approve Lynch.
Obama thanked him in a handwritten note.  Sweet.

McConnell:  "We've both chosen to put policy before party. That's how politics should be conducted, in my view."  Ah, the political elite; not a care for what our Founders envisioned for America.

Every time I think McConnell is finally going to act with a dependable conservative character, he lets me down.
To my way of thinking the party should drive the policy, not vice versa.

What do you expect from a party that told us in 2010 "Give us the House and we'll make changes." So we give them the House.

Then in 2014 it was "Give us the Senate and we'll REALLY get started on those changes." So we gave them the Senate.

In 2016 it'll be "Get us the White House and that list we've been promising will get DONE." And unless there is a candidate with conservative principles, it'll be SSDD. The general is important, but the PRIMARY IS CRITICAL.

docstew & obumazombie, ya'll are so right.
The republican party has let us down, no question about it.
We've been betrayed again & again.
Yes, they promised us & acknowledged conservative ideals.
But instead, after re-election, & the drama (who could forget Boehner's tears & "I get it") they went back to what they really believed in.
Big government, even bigger pork, floodgates open for cheap labor & a trade deal that won't help middle America.
My only consolation is this time around, I won't ever vote for a rino again.
When I voted in the mid-terms, I left Lindsey Graham's slot blank.  I know this isn't a big deal, but, crazy, it made me feel a little better.
Lynch was a big deal.  Here are our republican leaders, kissing up once again:

http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/241699-liberal-opposition-imperils-trade-bill

& of course we're not alone.  There's this website, & a sample from the comments:

"Republican leadership has done worse than utterly fail, it's actively pushing the other side's agenda. We need a new party, because we're now disenfranchised in the one that's ostensibly for us. I don't know about you, but if I wanted to vote for the Obama agenda, I'd have voted Democrat."

When it comes to the GOP career politicians, they will do the right thing if they think it won't threaten their re election chances.

What's going on with Lynch & her DOJ?   She's going after 2 movie theaters, AMC & Regal.  High on power, bored, or is this simply a case of fairness, progressive style, which isn't ever fair at all.

"Regal Entertainment Group and AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc., the nation’s two largest movie theater chains, have received formal inquiries from the Justice Department’s Antitrust Division, signaling growing government scrutiny of a tactic large theater operators commonly use to keep movies out of competing locations."

"The Justice Department’s civil investigative demands, received by AMC and Regal on May 28, give it subpoena power and request documents and answers to certain questions. AMC and Regal soon after received additional civil investigative demands from the office of the attorney general of Ohio, which has a “similar inquiry” under that state’s antitrust laws, AMC’s notice said."
