The church is the source of most hatred and bigotry directed as gay and transgender people. We already revoke 501c3 status of Churches when leaders tell their parishioner who to vote for in elections so why can't the same policy apply to those who refuse to marry or even admit gay couples?

When it comes to the private sector, that's one thing, but aren't the churches themselves a different story? Unless they're advertising themselves as a rental space for weddings, aren't they exclusionary by definition?

Churches can always approve who they will marry, and that's fine.

No - you can't force churches to marry or admit anyone they don't want to. Take a Civics class. Read the First Amendment. Then read it again. Then read some commentaries and court decisions concerning the First Amendment. Repeat.

Just un-****ing-believable.

I don't know why so many DUmmies are against the idea. So many of them in the past have advocated that churches should pay taxes. Are that many of them anti-gay when it comes to churches v. Teh Gheys?

It wouldn't surprise me if during the creation of the US Constitution some poor soul quietly thought that maybe it needed to be included that marriage was between a man and a woman. Then he thought to himself, "What ever for? Every sane person knows that marriage is between a man and a woman. Any thoughts of viewing marriage as different than one man and one woman will never, ever, EVER happen!"

I see a DU-lagomorph is less than well-informed about things gays have tried, through lawsuit, to force churches to do. Of course, it may be that this DU-lagomorph wasn't born when this lawsuit was playing out.
