What does this mean to you? is he right?
Honestly, it doesn't mean anything to me. And as I mentioned earlier it will get quite a bit of negative airplay. My impression on Carson's statement is this - I believe
* he meant that regardless if one is gay or straight, one can choose to engage in gay sex, and like the old cliche that parents use to get their kids to eat broccoli or lima beans "Try it, you just might like it" may apply. And some people invariably do.
Granted, the people who probably do like it are the aggressors who rape other inmates - their victims..not so much.. Because if they didn't find some sort of satisfaction in it, they probably wouldn't do it. If the aggressors weren't inmates and had no choice for sexual partners other than men, would they ever engage in gay sex ? Maybe. But I do expect most of them wouldn't.
*The above is my opinion on what I think Carson meant. It isn't intended to condone or discredit Carson in any way, nor does it indicate that I believe any of the above myself.
As for the prison sex/rape issue,
I believe that the sex act is designed less to sexually satisfy the rapist, and more to establish a pecking order of sorts. The rapist doesn't become gay, the rapist is using one of the few tools available to him to establish and maintain control of other inmates.
