Pelosi stands firm against offshore drilling

Pelosi stands firm against offshore drilling

WASHINGTON: Upon entering Congress in 1987, Representative Nancy Pelosi quickly became part of the solid California front against oil drilling along much of the nation's coast.

The 1969 Santa Barbara oil spill and the steady push to tap the potential reserves off the state's rugged coast had galvanized Californians and made opposition to offshore drilling part of the political DNA of up-and-coming figures like Pelosi.

She repeatedly resisted oil drilling in marine sanctuaries off the state's coast near her San Francisco district and, after joining the Appropriations Committee, was an advocate of reinstating the coastal drilling ban through spending restrictions each year.

*snip*

Since taking over as speaker, Pelosi has asserted herself on energy policy, which she sees an overarching cause that encompasses national security, climate change, the economy, health care and the environment.

Yet Bella Pelosi still wants to blame economic problems on the President.   :whatever:   :banghead:

Ride it down in flames, Nancy, you are really making the Dems look like bitches on this one.  To complain about "It would take 5 or 10 years for it to matter" and then propose "Alternative technologies" instead (which would take at least 15-20 years to substantially replace most fossil fuel uses) is the height of Moonbat thinking.

two cat 5 hurricanes in the Gulf didn't cause problems Nan, maybe they've gotten a little better about this sort of thing since 69.
My fellow Americans, there is nothing audacious about hope. Hope is what makes people buy lottery tickets instead of paying the bills. Hope is for the old gals feeding the slots in Atlantic City. It destroys the inner-city kid who quits school because he hopes he'll be a world-famous recording artist.

I would invite any asshole who still uses that excuse to log into their computer, get on the internet, Google up images of a 1969 Charger R/T and a 2008 Charger R/T and tell me if there is any difference.

the basic problem is increased global demand for oil, which in turn is mostly the result of the new
urban middle classes in china and in india.  does pelosi think these people are going away anytime soon?
this is a long term, if not permanent, situation.

she is probably opposed to any drilling because her own sex life is for crap, and if she isn't getting drilled,
then by God, no one is drilling anything.

I really think this is going to be the issue that decides the election. I hope the Dems keep ****ing it up.

On related note I've decided not to save any money for my retirement as it will take me 10-20 years to see any benefits. It's just not worth it.  :whatever:

of course, oil prices are up today.

Quote
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Oil prices rebounded Friday, bouncing off a nearly $16-a-barrel drop over the prior three days, on a more positive world economic outlook from the International Monetary Fund and reduced output from Nigeria.

Light, sweet crude for August delivery rose $1.14 to $130.43 a barrel in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange at 11:43 a.m. ET, reversing a downward trend that began Tuesday.

Not a good example.  The 2008 Charger don't have shit on the '69.

On a side note.  Pelosi has to stand firm.  She can't help it.  With all that botox in her body, there's no other way to stand.

The fact that 18 million of them voted for someone whose sole qualification is to have been married to the most corrupt modern President and that nearly half have chosen an unqualified Socialist mulatto whose sole qualification is he gave a speech a few years ago tells us that the American voter is truly, truly stupid.

I'm sure Pelosi makes enough money to not have to worry about the price of gas anymore. She's being an idiot IMO.

My fellow Americans, there is nothing audacious about hope. Hope is what makes people buy lottery tickets instead of paying the bills. Hope is for the old gals feeding the slots in Atlantic City.
