They've found the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR).  That will help shed light into what happened.

What they know right now:

No distress call.

Descended from 38 to 6 thousand feet in 8 minutes in what has been described as a "controlled manner".

Just passed a safety inspection Monday.

Terrorism has not been ruled out.


This is going to be a tough recovery effort.  No roads...the area is only accessable via helicopters or mountain guides.

Biggest pieces are about 10 sq ft in diameter.

"Controlled manner" or not, if the biggest pieces are that small, that's a serious auger-in. Of course, there ain't a whole lot of flat space in the French Alps.... :p

I gotta believe there was hypoxia involved.
The TAWS would have been giving off all kinds of alarms.

I think they did.  When the story was first breaking, there was a rumor of a distress call from the plane, but then they backtracked and said it was an emergency call from a control tower.

Megyn Kelly had a former NTSB board member on last night.  Said guest said words to the effect that "there's a lot more that they know, but aren't telling anyone about, right now."  I'd be rather interested in finding out the identities of the pilots, their religions, their health histories (to include heart stress test results), etc.

Just heard that the co-pilot purposely put the plane down and there are screams at the end of the recording.  He had been employed since 9/2013.  They are keeping his name under wraps.  ::)

so here is what I'm wondering......they knew his name and the news just said "they" scrubbed his facebook.   Why would they scrub his Facebook?  Shouldn't that be left out there so as to not let conspiracy theories begin? 

Also they say during the 10 minutes before the crash his breathing was steady and there was complete silence the whole time.  Guessing that means no movement or clicking of buttons, creaking of chairs etc....If he had passed out from hypoxia would his breathing be steady?

The findings lead the investigators to believe that he was awake and alert and very calm during the entire episode.
