Media Lied About California Running Out of Water in One Year

Surprised? Not me. Just another political ploy to try to increase government control over a vital resource.

Lawmakers are proposing emergency legislation, state officials are clamping down on watering lawns and, as California enters a fourth year of drought, some are worried that the state could run out of water.

State water managers and other experts said Thursday that California is in no danger of running out of water in the next two years, even after an extremely dry January and paltry snowpack. Reservoirs will be replenished by additional snow and rainfall between now and the next rainy season, they said. The state can also draw from other sources, including groundwater supplies, while imposing tougher conservation measures.

This California-will-run-out-of-water-in-one-year scare-culation, if not pulled from some bureaucrat's fat desk-driving @$$, probably premised zero precipitation for the rest of 2015 and in 2016.

Anyone who's lived in CA for more than 5 or 10 years and has paid attention to the weather knows that periodic droughts are normal. There was a longer drought throughout the 1970s, and there have been a couple shorter ones since. What hasn't happened in the past several decades is expanding CA reservoir capacity - the Enviros have frozen and even reversed that - nor proper maintenance of existing reservoirs.

Anyway, I'm sure Governor Moonbeam's peeps are working to discipline these Department of Water Resources people for going off the government-power-grab reservation.
