This came over me like a wave today...

during the past 37 years, I have found that I could and would have discussions about current events/politics with many many of my patients, mostly while we were waiting for the anesthesia to kick in, or for a glazed crown to come out of the oven and cool. But in the past three years, the number of these conversations has dwindled to a trickle...it is limited to my activists: Peace, civil rights, real politicos and politicians from State Government and City Hall, and a very few others with whom I have had real dialogue since Reagan ran and won in 1980. It is as though people are either talked-out or are afraid to discuss stuff which affects them and their families. this was not true in times gone by, and, I will state, many conversations showed how at odds some were with me in terms of these issues, but that we could have an honest discussion.

Now it seems that very few, even those who possess congruent points of view to mine, want to talk about anything except what they've been binge-watching on Netflix or TeeVee/cable. The reason that I noticed this is that I had an in depth conversation about the Ferguson situation today and I realized how long its been since I'd talked politics at all. A real loss: the discussion were almost always stimulating.

Or maybe because you were a practical joke?
Anyone ever have a dentist sit there and talk while Novocain took hold?

4. Politics became toxic in my family a decade ago as a result of Faux ****ing Newz.

And as I posted earlier, my parents (R-always, Kansas) are completely fed up with Brownback and the GOP in general. They have voted Republican for 60 years.

I think hate media and the GOP have really screwed up here, they went WAY too far and now they are hemorrhaging loyal support.

A bouncy!!!

Doc seems to have forgotten how much the DUmp hates Jews and is trying to get back in the fold.

My dentist, unless involved in a complicated procedure, has two or three chairs going at once, and I suspect that's the case with all of them.

While the anesthetic is soaking in, he'll be working on someone else.

The idea that he would just loiter around, waiting, while spinning leftist bouncy tales, isn't just impossible, it's comical.

If this guy is a dentist, nadin is an English professor.

Uh, this probably goes back to the presidential election of 1980, actually.

Up until then, while I was growing up, many people discussed politics, much as they discussed the weather, sports, or their latest vacation.  Even if they disagreed.

It was because back then, a person's politics was about as important as about whether one collected coins or collected butterflies; about whether one preferred lemon pie or chocolate pie; about whether one wore size 10 shoes, or size 11 shoes.

Politics just wasn't a big deal; early in college, many evenings were filled with roommates and classmates disagreeing on politics.....but politics never interfered with friendships, or social associations.

- - - - - - - - - - -

The morning after Ronald Reagan's landslide in November 1980, in which he'd ousted the incumbent, I abruptly and regretfully noticed the world had suddenly changed.

Unlike in 1976 or 1972 or 1968 or 1964--the memory doesn't go back to 1960--where the losers had simply accepted their loss and life went on, everybody still getting along with each other, now there seemed a whole lot of hate-filled, bitter, angry, resentful losers around.

Damn.

It was just a presidential race, politics; why did some people take it so seriously?

It was just politics, after all, nothing worth jumping up-and-down getting red-white-and-blue in the face about.

That's when it became impossible for decent and civilized people to be friends with those on the other side of the aisle.  And they started it; we didn't.

Dumbocrats lost the Senate too and in that day such a thing was unthinkable,an impossibility as certain as the sun rising in the east.
An actual conservative won the Presidency and the populace had thrown out the likes of Birch Bayh and George McGovern.
It was all theirs and after 1974 and 1976 was never, ever to be taken from them.

Nothing has changed in 40 years.

The DUmmy dentist should look at his patient list, and ask himself how many he drove away with his incessant moonbattery.

I wouldn't go yo a moonbat dentist. My dentist tides a Harley. The ladt time I went in, he asked me if I had any rides planned for this spring. I said 'unghahaha'. That is about as in-depth as it can get when the dentist has both hands in your mouth, along with a Dremel tool and a power washer.

But I'm not bitter about my last dental experience.

I'll tell you why I dropped my dentist. 1) His wife was just indicted for trying to put a hit out on her son-in-law, and it's been suggested her husband the dentist knew all about it, and 2)  He wouldn't let the novacaine soak in long enough before coming at you.

I hate that!! You sit through a really uncomfortable procedure, then by the time you get home your whole head has become as numb as a democrat's brain.

It doesn't happen anymore. I ask for nitrous oxide. Love that stuff.

It still hurts if the local anesthetic is weak, but you don't care.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

I've never seen a dentist (Or any other medical professional I've been a patient of, for that matter) discuss politics with me.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Alrighty, to begin with, I'd say we officially NEED to have NoJusticeNoPeace be one of the Top DUmmies of 2015, he's a riot!
Anyway, this particular comment is hypocritical as hell.
During the Bush Administration, the left had no problem puking out their hate towards the right, and they STILL do that whenever they can.
In contrast, it's conservatives who criticize Obama or other leftists that find themselves having to look over their shoulders.
First off, consider Joe the Plumber. Just for publicly raising questions about Obama's proposed economic policies while on the campaign trail, the Dems illegally rooted through all his personal information to dig up any kind of dirt they could against him.
Next, of course, is all the Tea Party groups. Just for publicly criticizing Obama's policies, the IRS conducted illegal investigations and unjustified audits against them out of pure spite.
After that, the Obama rodeo clown. Just for having a rodeo clown wear a mask of a sitting US president (Which, btw, has been a quite common thing for rodeo clowns to do for decades; It's been done of both Democratic and Republican presidents), the Secret Service launched a full investigation into the rodeo, and the rodeo clown in question was banned for life.
Conservatives like us are the ones who constantly need to look over our shoulders when saying anything remotely critical about Obama or Hillary, out of fear of some lib openly accusing us of racism or of being psycho extremist terrorists that need to be arrested.

Which reminds me.

How long do you suppose the Big Guy needs to survive in order to place high in voting?

I say if he winks out before Labor Day, he'll be forgotten by the time voting rolls around in December.

He's being aided by an exceptionally weak nadinless field this year.

The most my dentist has ever said was "are you feeling any pain?". And I've either mumbled "no" from the chair or "yes" hanging from my nails on the ceiling.

As you know, the level and quality of "inventory" for the DUmpster is a daily concern of mine.

It's early yet, but thus far I ain't seein' much.

It should be of concern to the primitives too, because remember, the DUmpster's the only place on the internet that pays any attention to them.
