Elizabeth Warren and Joe Biden jump to the head of the list of Democratic contenders if Hillary Clinton chooses not to run for president in 2016.
 
Democrats worried about the e-mail and foreign donation controversies now surrounding Clinton are beginning to talk about other possible presidential candidates for next year, but the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 88% of Likely Democratic Voters still believe Clinton is likely to be their party’s nominee.  This includes 60% who say it’s Very Likely. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Among all voters, 75% think Clinton is the next likely Democratic presidential nominee, with 41% who say it’s Very Likely. Just 18% feel it’s not very or Not At All Likely.
 
If Clinton decides not to run in 2016, however, 31% of Democrats would choose Warren, the first-term senator from Massachusetts, to be the party’s standard-bearer. Just as many (30%) would opt for Vice President Biden, a longtime Delaware senator prior to his election to his current position.
 
Independent Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders earns seven percent (7%) support among Democrats, while former Virginia Senator James Webb gets six percent (6%) of the vote. Ex-Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, the focus of a number of news stories in recent days, draws just two percent (2%) support among voters in his own party. Twelve percent (12%) like some other candidate, and 13% are undecided.

Personally, I think that it'll be a bloodbath for the Dems.

Most likely the party apparatus will turn to Warren,like they did to Obungles in 2007.
Hill is simply hard to view as electable unless one just goes with the dem theory that they hold the White House as far as the eye can see due to the taker class.

She has done a pretty good job of killing all her possible opponents in the cradle, leaving a sparse crop should she have to decide not to run.  Personally I don't think her or Bill's ego will allow her not to, at this point.  She honestly believes that "Trust me" BS will fly.

The Dems would have a great chance if they ran a conservative, broadly-appealing candidate like Manchin, especially against someone a lot of voters on the Right don't really like such as Jeb, but since the farthest left of the base will be the most active in the primaries, there is zero chance of that happening.

Since they do have such a weak field, I don't know why Trey Gowdy isn't being more aggressive. He could singlehandedly kneecap the Dems for the next election. He could subpeona Hillary's server, not just the records, but the actual server for independent forensic examination.

I think that Trey Gowdy is not falling for the bait.  He could easily bulldoze Hillary, but let's say he subponeas her--a smart move for her to do would be to declare her candidacy then.  She can say that the subponea is designed to go after her candidacy for President, and the Hillary sychophants would lap it up.  Moderates would be swayed, because the media would be firmly in her corner.

Trey Gowdy knows this, I think.

I thought I heard Trey Gowdy say that he didn't have the authority to subpoena the physical hard drive or server, just the electronic records.  If that's true, then it's messed up.
