Here's an idea
What if we just dispense with labels--left, right, centrist, Third Way, etc...--and just focus on issues that matter to us?

What is it you really care about? Wall Street reform? Peace? Equal rights? A living wage? Issues, not fights over individual personalities or labels, but issues.

1. It's a great concept, but it's only going to get worse.

Likely worse than the 2008 primaries.
We have to nominate a candidate who can win!

4. My top three issues:

1. End the Forever War: Civil rights always take a hit during war time. In the past, the "extreme measures" would end when the war ended, after which civil rights were expanded. Not any more. The war is unending. The "extreme measures" are now standard operating procedure. That won't change until we end this phony war.

2. Get Money Out of Politics: Amend the Constitution to counter the Citizens United ruling. Ultimately I would favor a ban on all - personal, corporate, and union - contributions with elections funded publicly. Greatly reduce the duration of the campaigns, e.g. to something on the order of 60-90 days. A candidate or party should be able to easily and effectively get out their message in that amount of time.

We need these two things to try and accomplish anything else.

A quick way to shut down the leftists complaint of "get money out of politics" is to point out that Union Money and in-kind such as campaigning and endorsing are also "money."
