Is it me or does DU seem smaller lately?
 
Seems like there are fewer posts, fewer recs and fewer replies to most posts the last couple of weeks.

I know that some prolific, good posters are gone. Probably contributes to the lack of interest

Actually, this has been concerning me for some time now.

After all, the fewer the primitives, the less inventory to stock the DUmpster.

Of current concern's the bitter old Vermontese cali primitive, who doesn't seem to have been around--unless I missed seeing her--since awardment of her Top DUmmiehood late last December.

Did she finally spontaneously combust in a frenzy of rage and Hate and anger, or what?

I don't think cali has ever broken into the Top 5 in DOTY voting, although her wallduding episode was far more entertaining than that of Doug Bulna.

Anyway it isn't surprising that Skins's island is shrinking.

It's because of that rising sea level from global warming.

The bitter old Vermontese cali primitive's been one of the most reliable sources of comedy material for the DUmpster, and as someone charged with stocking the shelves here, for the amusement and illumination of decent and civilized people, I get concerned when a supplier stops supplying.

I wonder if she suddenly went berserk in a fit of anger and rage and Hate--something bound to happen sooner or later--and her brother and sisters had to put her away.

Actually Frank I think it is more a function of obumbles being in the white house. They have been eating their own. Now I bet if the GOP wins the white house in the next election, expect to see DU pick up new members. DU is pretty much based on hatred and nothing unites the Dump loonies like GOP control of congress and the white house.

people are members of DU or even on DU during the day..I wish there was some way that info could be apart of the Website. To see how many people have logged on.. would be interesting.

This sort of information on conservativecave is freely available to even primitive lurkers.

I'd consider it a good thing, knowing which primitives are logged on over there--just as primitives can see who's logged on here--because it'd save a lot of time and troubling running around looking to see if they're there, and making comments suitable for inventory in the DUmpster.

One wonders why Skins is so paranoid about it.

It started when Skins abdicated responsibility and gave up admin moderation for the jury system.
people began to realize they could punish old enemies by abusing the system.
   1) when people become afraid to speak on a public forum, they seek friendlier venues
   2) when people discover how to use juries to abuse the system (like the HOF feminazis did), they ban or drive posters away.

Good moderating = a good forum.
Bad moderating = a bad forum, and members have no loyalty
No moderating = chaos and bullying...who wants to stay in a forum like that?

The loss of even a few of these key lunatics can seriously degrade DUmp comedy.

Losing Pam, nadin, TiT, Deadstone, Amber, Taverner, Dennis the Menace, the Leviathan, and LocoNuts has been an awful blow to the DUmp.
