Why the right hates American history

Quote
Sure, the war on education helps Republican lawmakers destroy unions and slash government spending, but it’s our history of progressive change that makes Conservatives hate accurate depictions of our past.

Just think about Social Security, The New Deal, freeing the slaves, or child labor laws… all represent great turning points in our nation that progressives made possible. The fact is, our entire history – from our revolution to healthcare reform – is filled with progressive accomplishments, and it’s hard to sell the Conservative brand to people who know that history.

Many of the today’s biggest political issues, like our privacy rights, would not even be up for debate today had it not been for the attack on education. If more Americans had had a strong understanding of our history, George W. Bush and Dick Cheney would have never been able to pull off the Patriot Act. And, we wouldn’t be discussing the Orwellian government spy agencies like the NSA in this day and age.

Consider who wrote it. Written by Thom Hartmann of AlterNet.  :mental:

Allow enemies their space to hate; they will destroy themselves in the process.

Rs hate History and education generally? Ri-i-i-ight. That's why so many Rs and conservatives homeschool their kids ... bring what they viscerally hate right into their homes, right into their living rooms and to their kitchen tables!

Like I said elsewhere, an Alternet Universe.

Why the Left hates American history: because to them, America was founded by eeeevil dead white straight men who believed in God and the natural rights of the individual; and the sons and grandsons of those eeeevil dead white straight men, also eeeevil dead white straight men and individualists, built a country that spanned the continent and spread capitalism across the virgin land.

And Leftists hate every bit of it. Their only options are to hate it, ignore it, or try to rewrite it.
Government is the negation of liberty.

Speaking of "the right", History, and education ...

I'm sure this Alternet Universe writer has heard of , and loathes the founder of the Pro-Life group, Live Action. Much as does PP. Though she has since converted to Catholicism, Lila Rose was raised in an Evangelical Christian home, homeschooled (along with her brothers), and has a degree from UCLA .............. in History.

We also homeschooled our three munchkins, "K-12". One has a Business degree from the local CSU; one is studying at a university in China; the third is a preschool teacher while taking Education classes at a nearby JC. This conservative family also "hates" education.

When you are ignorant of a group of people, don't care to learn about them, and don't care about the truth generally, making up the stupidest @#$% about them comes pretty easily.

Salon.
Ultra liberal.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.
